Sex is not irrelevant but also not determinant in this case. Like most occupations one sex is more naturally inclined to it.
I would expect in a meritocracy ~95% male armed forces.
Must admit, I am not so at ease if a female is head of the armed forces, not being in their nature. But in a meritocracy it would be an exception for one to achieve it.
Agree, but every individual is different and some women want to, and can, given their physique.
Men are designed for defense both physically and mentally, so it would be rare for a women to join voluntarily. Standard requirements should not be dropped to cater either.
The founders were right in regard dignity and voluntary being part of society in their original tax system.

Secondly, military service should be voluntary. When the time comes to protect one’s society, you will find those that cherish it will join out of their own volition. They are also the best soldiers.
Most of those will be men, some women. But both men and women will join in the fight with their ideas and support. War requires coordinates effort across all facets, including production, logistics, and the front.
Logic would say more people will join due to the price rise because people are attracted to wealth (‘power’).
Embrace it, it is nature.
