“The Glass Room remained indifferent, of course. Plain, balanced, perfect; and indifferent. Architecture should have no politics, Rainer von Abt said. A building just is. Below it, lapping up to the foot of the garden, were the rough tides of those political years, while the Landauer House stood beached on the shore above the tidemark like a relic of a more perfect golden age. That summer there were graffiti on the walls in Marienbad, where the Landauers went for their usual holiday. SdP was the slogan, painted in red letters that dripped blood.” ~Simon Mawer

My nephew visited the Philippines (to visit his grandmother) — he also found one of these beautiful star fish.

“The experience of having to flee was reflected in Varo’s paintings of people in transit — sailing in precarious boats, wandering through forests, riding bicycles through town or descending steps — all while wearing contemplative expressions.

“Like other artists who had to live and create under duress, I think her pictorial language is very rich and full of mythology and symbols,” Emmanuel Di Donna, an art dealer who included Varo’s work in his 2019 show “Surrealism in Mexico,” said in a phone interview.

Varo would live in Mexico for the rest of her life, with the exception of a year in Venezuela.” https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/24/obituaries/remedios-varo-overlooked.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare

Sigh. It doesn’t matter anymore— thanks though.

because we encourage people to use Nip-7 extension like https://getalby.com/ for sign-in. pasting private key in website is not a good choice(private key leaking due to xss attacking/hacker stealing etc)

Thank you!

Observing strange things— sometimes when I look at a reposted note with another note— the reposted note becomes something else belonging to the thread. Is this normal? Does this make sense. I find it vexing.

“There is no record of the exact night or the exact hour. But two centuries later, drawing on Mary’s account of the moment her idea finally arrived as she lay in bed restless with “the moonlight struggling to get through,” astronomers would use the phase of the Moon and its position in the sky over the Villa Diodati to determine that the only light bright enough to clear the hillside and shine through Mary’s shutters in the middle of the night was the gibbous of June 16, just shy of 2 A.M.

“Once a poem is made available to the public,” the teenage Sylvia Plath would tell her mother a century-some later, “the right of interpretation belongs to the the reader.” Like a great poem, Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus would lend itself to infinite interpretations as it came to tower over the popular imagination for centuries to come, casting its long shadow over the fault lines of the future — the future that is now our present, in which so many of the ideas Mary Shelley contoured and condemned are realities both mundane and menacing: artificial intelligence and genetic engineering, racism and income inequality, the longing for love and the lust for power.” https://www.themarginalian.org/2022/06/16/frankenstein-reproductive-rights/

💛 Yes— it will help but there are still humans creating & developing our “new friends.” And what if AI develop some type of consciousness— in the far away future. Are we responsible for this. Mary Shelley grappled with this years ago. I’ll consult Stanley Kubrick tonight in my dreams— jk 💜

At the end of the day— many do not want to “be” judged. It’s part of the human condition.

If I think about “moderation” for too long— all the joy is slowly squeezed out of my day. I read on instagram that “moderators” were being hired as cheap labor & often suffered emotional trauma. I have no idea if this is true.
