We don’t have any reason to relax. Especially in the EU, where is no one almost defending #PoW: there is almost no #bitcoin miners. Or we do defense the same fast as in the US, or we lose - in June will be first draft for the EU Commission how to label bitcoin not #ESG sustainable…
Very good move and congratulations to Riot Blockchain for gathering coalition to file a lawsuit against discriminatory EIA survey!
Good, that in the US there is strong #bitcoin community, defending #PoW #freedomtech.
I wish to have such partnership in the EU…
It is a clear example of difference between democracies and authoritarian states: you can fight back in democracy using institutions/separation of the powers. While in authoritarian states institutions work only against you/all power is gathered by the small group of people and weaponized against dissent. nostr:note1ttelf4je0vvl6yugkv7j2vlgl4j4haa82hvsjrng9kk4n6zlus7sj7jcgl
You are right. But in my case I use it to show colonialism, pure discrimination and selfishness in their approach.
For this report we are in process of collecting testimonies both from bitcoiners and financially excluded activists, victims of weaponization of banking data.
We should do it before the end of March and conduct 2 advocacy missions bringing activists and bitcoiners to Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. If you want to be a part of testimonies DM me.

Another one example of our work - is to initiate a study for parliamentarians of 46 member states of the Council of Europe about “Tools to prevent and address transnational repression”, which has the scope:
“Human rights defenders reported that even European financial institutions generally take such steps automatically as part of their compliance and risk mitigation policies, without providing any remedies. Similar concerns were raised by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on counter-terrorism and human rights, Fionnuala Ní Aoláin: 69 % of relevant Human Rights Committee recommendations focused on the abuse of counter-terrorism surveillance practices against civil society.
As recalled in a relevant motion for a resolution (Doc. 15697), faced with this form of transnational repression, rights activists and opposition members have resorted to raising and storing funds in crypto-assets, such as bitcoin and stablecoins, whose role, also as a humanitarian aid delivery and emergency response tool, should be reflected in relevant regulations.”
https://pace.coe.int/en/files/33081/html
Report about transnational repression can be found here and also exposed abuses of AML/CFT laws by dictators: https://pace.coe.int/en/files/32999/html

For those who don’t believe that we can actually do change the language of regulations in democracies, I want to show some examples (proof-of-work) of our BTC Coalition in education of policymakers.
One of the recommendations to 57 members states to reflect at the relevant regulations use of #bitcoin for human rights and humanitarian aid. Link is here:
Every time I read the #ECB report on the “lack of value of #bitcoin”, I wonder what kind of delusional experts write it at the expense of #EU taxpayers' money?
I don’t want to pay for such low level of expertise.
For the privileged guys, when you can choose any bank, bitcoin is useless, but for us - financially excluded and oppressed people in most countries of the world - bitcoin is the only payment and fundraising tool.
Let’s come together to @EU_Commission and @Europarl_EN to educate policymakers about the reality of financially excluded people and what role bitcoin as a #freedomtech tool plays to resist weaponization of banking data by the oppressive regimes.
Do you like flowers and unstoppable #spring as I do ☺️🫶?
Usually such “press” is used by the authoritarian regimes to follow after critics abroad or organize sophisticated harassment in media. Exactly as it was in my case and other human rights defenders.
To be objective: it shows hypocrisy of any job because it is a task for intelligence officers to penetrate into the system/pretend as usual person and then implement the “task”.
We started campaign last year since September via BTCPay Server: LN donate@bps.odfoundation.eu .
Geyser we also opened: https://geyser.fund/project/defendpow or LN defendpow@geyser.fund
Deadline/meetings starts tomorrow: https://www.oscepa.org/en/meetings/winter-meetings/upcoming-winter-meeting
Other events in March in Italian parliament, in April (US and Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe)… and more, but you know the prices for tickets/hotel, organization costs, not saying about work our team of experts to prepare this meetings.
So far we met with several #EU legislators only online, we also met with academia and students in EU/US after submitting our position to the #ESMA to educate them too and exclude multiplication of the false narratives in their studies.
We are fundraising to be able conduct these stages of work with #ECB and national parliamentarians in the EU.
It demands professional preparation of the meetings, reviewing updates, writing the new submissions and a lot of interviews/preparations with bitcoin miners and social beneficiaries of #bitcoin / bitcoin mining.
We got submitted requests to the different institutions like OSCE PA in #Vienna and got approved to testify in defense of #PoW & use bitcoin ans human rights tool, but now we can not come because of lack of funding. 😔🙈
We try to hold accountable those who violate human rights. Otherwise abuse of power becomes just another pleasure for them.
We do a lot of things, but regarding financial freedoms you can see public reports here: https://en.odfoundation.eu/projects-and-campaigns/combating-financial-exclusion-and-work-of-btc-coalition/
A lot of things we have to go quietly until they are done, or sometimes even if they are implemented we can’t disclose.
Happy to see you guys in #Madeira! 🫶⚡️
Giving joint submissions with testimonials of #bitcoin miners and social beneficiaries of bitcoin/bitcoin mining (like human rights defenders or communities).
Examples you can find there:

We expose discriminatory policy approaches towards to bitcoin and work with regulators to amend it, change regulatory language to neutral.
We met with their representative last year and share our experience of financial exclusion because of abuse of aml/cft laws and how we use bitcoin for human rights.
Very carefully listened us, but I guess just as many other NGOs, afraid to lose donors to be associated with „environmentally harmful technology”. This is also a reason why we need to correct false narratives about #bitcoin.
What about telegram links? Is it also scam?
