Yes, indeed it is difficult. Imagine how donors would also react when half of your donations spent for transaction…

Yes. We use BTCPay Server and happy to have this mechanism. But we still have a challenge how to get donations from fiat (credit card) and usdt and swap them to #bitcoin in a safe/cheap way in the authoritarian states.

Most of individual donors (and activists in #Kazakhstan or #Turkey whom we support have only them) they still need to understand how to use bitcoin and prefer donate in fiat.

You almost can’t do physically p2p bitcoin transactions - the regime of Kazakhstan is going after such people.

It takes 3-5 minutes to block a financial provider who is exchanges fiat to btc or specific account receiving donations (in #Stripe), associated with fundraising campaigns of activists or opposition.

With all respect to lawyers as a profession, but some of them also were advising me not to say publicly about de-risking, not to criticize FATF and don’t use #bitcoin.

On my question how do they propose me to survive being financially excluded and under attack of three authoritarian states- they didn’t answer. In unusual situations we should use asymmetric solutions, otherwise impossible to defend ourselves.

Two years ago financial system of Ukraine and democracies were paralyzed due to the Russian full invasion to Ukraine.

Fundraising campaigns of pro-Ukrainian volunteers on GoFundMe, Partonate and other platforms, financial providers, banks were frozen or terminated with no justification.

Lately we learned that our causes were associated with “risk/emergency activities” according to #FAFT recommendations.

How we were able to deliver anyway humanitarian aid and especially hundreds pieces of protective equipment for our families and friends, journalists to #Kyiv and #Lwiw on the second day of the war?

Thanks to the speed of #bitcoin. While the world was thinking should they act or wait we were getting support from bitcoin community/our families from abroad via bitcoin transactions.

Today Ukrainians using bitcoin too, especially at the temporary occupied or under risk of occupation places. There is no other payment instruments. You can’t use also cash - it is dangerous to have Ukrainian currency with you at such places.

I didn’t know that it is a case in Netherland. It might be discriminatory approach of the regulation too: Belarus opposition is located and registered in Netherland, they use all crypto donations for their cause.

Activists don’t have much options left to crowdfund/fundraise for their activities. It is all started from FATF recommendations, perceived NGOs as risk actors.

Financial institutions one by one exclude us.

So when I see such political case and at the same time tech developers who expect ed to raise funds for legal defense from one of the most regulated platforms, I wonder, how at the earth those guys were expecting to fundraise at #GoFundMe?

This is the most discriminating/privileged platform only.

If you want to feel financial exclusion as result of over-regulation implemented AML/CFT rules, then you go there. But definitely not to fundraise.

Thanks to your support we did preserve self-hosted wallets in the EU last year. So now your help defense of PoW in the EU is extremely important. It is easy to ban PoW and make it scapegoat when almost no one stands on it. We don’t want to allow our the only payment and fundraising instrument to be labeled with false narratives of “energy or environment threats/ unsustainable“.

We have to be fast, just as in the US, the draft with discriminatory sustainability indicators will be given to EU Commission in June this year. Then just implemented, no discussion in the EU parliament. We should met European Security and Market Authority/EU Commission in March the latest to follow up on our submissions in defense of PoW and #bitcoin.
