A lot of people dream and literally dying to have even half of your privileges to exercise your rights. I remember their eyes and smiles, those who asked me to continue fighting and helping even if sometimes it seemed impossible. Some of them were released and building future. Some of them unfortunately became a history…
For sure it is your choice do it or just give up. 🧡
I have paid a lot for my effectiveness in fighting for human rights.
A lot.
It has cost me a destroyed family, my health and my business. But I also know from the experience of defending hundreds of political prisoners that when you lose your freedoms, these values are taken away from you almost automatically.
The most important thing is not to lose yourself. Otherwise, you can rebuild, heal and make your dreams come true. I’m making my dreams come true and helping many other defenders of freedoms implement their dreams into reality.
When there are less voices to resist and defend, we will see more actors ready to take our rights. We can debate about it endlessly. But our life and future generations won’t forgive us lack of effort to defend freedoms. Join us and help build defense 🧡
History and real changes are done by individuals, who dare and have enough responsibility, courage to make changes.
Be one of them. Join us 🧡
Such brilliant people as #SatoshiNakomoto showed example again and again - we can do change together.
We need to act now and bring more awareness and more people.
Why do you think so? I would suggest: speak about politics easier then replace them and be responsible for the changes. But we enjoy rights somebody long time ago achieved. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever - if we are not responsible to defend our freedoms and our future - we will lose them.
When you consistently fight, you achieve, build and fulfil your dreams. 🧡
I guess first we need to see reality: majority of the EU officials wants to introduce this regulation. European Parliament is against of it. We still can do change and express our position.
Leaving EU is not a solution.
Danish Minister of Justice Peter Hummelgaard said encrypted services and social media - naming Telegram and TikTok - were widely used to facilitate crime and that if it was up to him alone, some communication platforms would be geoblocked and shut down. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/sweden-denmark-pressure-tech-platforms-over-gang-crime-ads-2024-08-21/
And it is just one example. Sweden, France, Hungary, Spain and other the same. Because citizens of these countries think that someone should defend their rights without any efforts. It doesn’t work like that.
Your rights will be easily taken, but not given. So help to involve as much people as possible to resist and stop this abusive regulation.
What exactly you propose to do?
Have you tried? Unfortunately ignorance to show your position again some changes is coming first from people.
nostr:npub13ajk3hhvqys2ev4y68jwxywgs8fsdsuk4y5gkzs874jdyrccvf5qak2yd9, you seem to have a rather limited understanding of the true power of #freedom #technology. As a self-sovereign anarchocapitalist living in one of the countries of the Western world, which is counting years till its empire falls, I can assure you that it is not through the shackles of #regulation that real #change comes about.
No, it is through the unconstrained #innovation and entrepreneurial spirit of the free market that we shall forge a new path forward.
“You never change things by fighting the existing reality. To change something, build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete”. — Buckminster Fuller
You speak of the "Western World" and its supposed advantages, but let me tell you, true #liberty knows no borders.
Whether I am in Mali or Monaco, the principles of individual sovereignty and decentralised #freedomtechno will always shine through.
The very notion that one must rely on the benevolence of western institutions to achieve success is a fallacy propagated by those who cling to the status quo.
The future belongs to those who dare to dream beyond the confines of the state. With the power of #blockchain, #cryptography, and #p2p networks, we can build a world where no regulator, no bureaucrat, and no central authority can stand in our way.
It is through #freedomtechnology that the true spirit of the libertarian revolution will be realised, and the shackles of oppression will be cast aside.
Stupid politicians and naive policy makers can do as they wish. We simply don’t care! Let ‘em!
The very notion of “funding” is changing rapidly. You describe a world which is long gone. The future is #permissionless. The future is here, it is not enough decentralised as off yet.
So, I say to you, do not be beholden to the false promises of the old establishment. Embrace the boundless potential of the decentralised future, and join us in the fight for true economic and personal #liberty.
For it is only through the unshackled #power of the individual that we shall forge a new path, one that leaves the stifling grip of regulation far behind.
Arrogant? Nonsense. I'm merely operating at a higher level of intellectual sophistication and abstraction that you are most probably finding difficult to follow and comprehend.
True #progress is not achieved by opposing or battling against the status quo!
So what stops wasabi wallet to operate? What forced phoenix wallet limit their service in the US?
I have no doubt that freedom tech will win but for one simple reason - because at least in the US bitcoiners are DEFENDING their rights, not just living in the world of adoration and dreams. I wish in the EU to gather such community.
As for you - enjoy your comfort zone, while you can. A lot of people paid for it with their lives long time ago.
I will be repeating myself, but will try to be more straightforward. Since you have asked, Im replying.
Answer some simple questions: where are you from and where you work from, where is your money coming from? Who first will get access to your open source freedom tech and will be ready to support it for scaling?
Don’t need to answer me, answer to yourself.
You are writing your arrogant response to me probably holding western passport/residence or being born in the western world, working in western countries. Right?
You use western language learned by very privileged groups of people in the world.
By default you have more opportunities to defend your rights than others. Do you know about it?
Are you open source developer? Don’t you want your projects be financially successful and scalable? If you are open source developer you will need financial resources and non of the authoritarian regimes will provide you or give contract to develop freedom tech.
You will need to apply for funding in the western countries, organizations like @OpenSats or VCs. Do you aware that such organizations /companies impossible to establish in the authoritarian states without control of corrupt officials ? Do you know, that western world provides sort of guarantee for their rights and rights of their donors/investors to be profitable and their profits don’t taken.
Do you aware that good regulatory environment makes people willing more give/donate, risk, invent and explore. So you are direct beneficiary of the this friendly western countries environment, established long time ago. The problem is that people become lazy in defense of their rights and privileges, while others are ready to limit rights of majority since they don’t see much resistance.
Im surprised that I have to explain all of this. With all said above: try to go to Mali and develop, fundraise living there, but not in western world. Im curious to learn about your experience and results.
You didn’t answer any of my questions. So you don’t know what to answer besides your emotional arrogance. Read again and internalize.
You may be one of the developers who will be a victim of over-regulation.
Why not speak out against it now when so little effort is required on your part? Why don't you try to protect yourself and your colleagues, the community, while you enjoy all these privileges?
For sure, if we got more attention in western countries to the need defend freedom tech - it will be more effective approach.
Besides that, EU is establishing so-called golden regulatory standards for other western states or potential members of the EU as Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova. It also has impact for regulation of Latin America, Central Asia and African countries. Dictators very quickly will use this side-door to get all information and communication of critics.
For this reason it is a matter of interest of everyone who thinks that privacy is a guarantee of freedom of speech in the world, not only in western countries or if lost in western countries - functionally of dark internet.
It is not true, that only Pirate party is defending privacy, but it is true that Patrick as a member of this party, is one of the most systemic and outspoken in his defense of privacy.
Ideally, and what we are trying to establish in the EU, is #FreedomTech #Embassy, where we can discuss, work on better regulatory environment for users, developers and investors of freedom tech.
At the same time it will be place where everyone can learn how to use #bitcoin, what does it mean protect your privacy of communication and financial data, why mining is important for adoption of renewable and #EU grid stabilization, its development but not a threat of the energy and environment security as it right now presented by ECB and other EU bodies.
We need a place and team in the EU to defend freedom tech and our digital rights.
We need it now, before it is too late.
You are writing your arrogant response to me probably holding western passport/residence or being born in the western world, working in western countries.
You use western language learned by very privileged groups of people in the world.
If you are open source developer you will need financial resources and non of the authoritarian regimes will provide you or give contract to develop freedom tech.
You will need to apply for funding in the western countries, organizations like nostr:npub10pensatlcfwktnvjjw2dtem38n6rvw8g6fv73h84cuacxn4c28eqyfn34f .
With all said above: try to go to Mali and develop, fundraise living there, but not in western world. Im curious to learn about your experience and results.
So for sure, it is important to develop but please decrease your level of ignorance and just do a little effort to understand my position why we need to have safe regulatory environment in western world.
Is it your birthday today? 😍
Don’t afraid. Use your rights and privileges while you have them. It doesn’t cost you anything, but it will have impact. We blocked it in June and we will do it as many times as it needs. Join us and help with action to protect privacy and its developers now.
It is not enough, unfortunately. Only our voices are not enough. Mobilization in the EU of those who care about privacy is a key.
Your attitude is the best example for more systemic problem.
Open source developers can’t create and develop, get financial support in the hostile environment.
In the US for instance, you have one of the most safe environment to develop, you have number of organizations defending developers and funding for that purposes from private donors.
So they able to do different instruments to gather the attention and mobilize people in defense of privacy.
Nostr was born where? Where is majority of innovation of freedom tech companies located?
In the EU we have just few voices in defense of privacy and majority is ignorant. Besides that no private funds for such work, which means no funds for defense of open source developers once they under repression. We have only governmental funding for NGOs so you can see nothing even close to the US scale of protection for privacy.
And your energy and similar approach by others just project your attitude. It is fine, I respect your point. It will unfortunately has its consequences. Im afraid very drastic and very soon, if nothing changes.
IMO how Nostr works as protocol is the basic answer. Of course it needs more improvements such as MLS by nostr:nprofile1qqspwwwexlwgcrrnwz4zwkze8rq3ncjug8mvgsd96dxx6wzs8ccndmcpzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qtxwaehxw309anxjmr5v4ezumn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tmwwp6kyvt6w46kz6nyxa6nxumc8pu82wfj09shvwt2wau8qu3cxvukxuesdd3nxufkws6nvanyx46njufsxvehsmtgwd4nvcejw43n7cnjdaskgcmpwd6r6arjw4jszxrhwden5te0dehhxarj9enx6apwwa5h5tnzd9az77vr4lw , more clients such as zap.store and so.
With centralization of app stores such as Google Play, organizations even ones like simplex and nostr:nprofile1qqsrc23txhhfq2yt9m32s7h90864j2cg62hvq4tpkrz8cvhpg5z39vgpzamhxue69uhkummnw3ezuum5w43xy7fwv3jhvtcpr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujucnfw3kkzurnw3ezu6t09uq3kamnwvaz7tmwdaehgu3wwd6kgmmrv9excmmn9e3k7mf02qnk6j in control by forced government laws, it won't work.
Open source developers also need financial resources and work in a safe environment. How many new apps developed in the authoritarian states? Almost none. The reason is because developers or any investors in freedomtech will be immediately repressed.
Use your rights and privileges or you will lose them. This is a choice we face right now.
We managed to block it in June, we should just repeat the same mobilization three more times. Use your rights or lose them. This is literally a choice we have right now.
