There are those who come here with certain expectations (images don't load, can't find users, DM privacy sucks, no blue checkmarks, ...) and a conflicted mind that doesn't let them enjoy the freedom of chaos. They need it to be wrong and broken so they can handle the dissonance when going back to Elon's private global hellscape.

Then there are those who come and see an infinite space of possibilities and also challenges, they see the beauty in the chaos. They know that this protocol owes them exactly nothing.

They ask: what can I do with nostr what has never been done before? And slowly they realize how big this question really is.

I never used a fitbit or similar because I think they are privacy nightmares. I'm also not a big fan of measuring everything (or over-optimizing everything).

But now I'm curious: are there any that don't suck and are reasonably privacy preserving? If anyone knows it's probably the nostr crowd lol

I use Garmin, who seem the best of the bunch wrt privacy. But it is a balance and some compromise is required. If I was all over opsec I wouldn’t use anything.

The last few years I’ve gradually exercised less and consumed more calories.

I’m also in my mid-40s now so that youthful metabolism ain’t so much anymore.

So last week I got out my food scale, started tracking all the calories and macronutrients, didn’t drink alcohol, and walked a lot.

Down 3.6 pounds out of the gate. Feeling good, blood pressure down. Dog happier.

I'm incredibly impatient, but if you're class of '17 you should be chilling right the fuck out. I'm class of '22 and am aiming to retire next year. Just think what kind of outlay that required😳.
