The last few years I’ve gradually exercised less and consumed more calories.

I’m also in my mid-40s now so that youthful metabolism ain’t so much anymore.

So last week I got out my food scale, started tracking all the calories and macronutrients, didn’t drink alcohol, and walked a lot.

Down 3.6 pounds out of the gate. Feeling good, blood pressure down. Dog happier.

Just eat less poison (sugar, seed oils, chemicals) and you will see results fast.

Respect brother. Good habits right there. Discipline can be harder as we get older, stay on it and it’ll become second nature. 🫡🤝

Love it. Dogs get us outside!

You reminded me: When scaling down on intake, I’ve enjoyed a big glass of water before any meal that would be “lighter” to help feel full when done.

Yes I need to be better about this tactic!

Twice daily dog walks are good for the scale and soul 🤝

I like that 💯

Thanks to my boy nostr:npub1dvufvl73s0xdz8d75dgcyjvl0wrmczczvr0ef88g5x8uehmr4fus0j0pwx for the assist

👏👏

Adding some weight lifting (doesn’t need to be a lot) will do wonders

I’m in my mid 40s too 🤙

Yes, planning to add some lifting into the mix next week.

Nice man. You don’t get many opportunities in life to win your health back. So well done for making the effort to start the journey. Healthy body healthy mind.

Keep at it, create the good habit for one full month

hey Sean, good 2 c u here! what's your fav. spot on the court 4 shooting b-ball? t-y bballbro

My favorite? Nothing more fun (and more demoralizing to the defense) than getting a nice dunk.

t-y Sean, if i was a little younger, would've loved a 1 on 1! i have imagination still lol

I’ll keep you updated 👊

Good effort 💪🏻 hope you manage to cement the habit of eating and exercising well.

I'm the wrong side of 35.

Give me a couple of things you'd tell your mid-30s self so I can steal some wisdom...

Find an accountability partner, or a group, and keep each other accountable for staying healthy. It was too easy for me to slide out of my good habits the past 5 years or so, all kinds of excuses in my head. A couple weeks ago I asked nostr:npub1dvufvl73s0xdz8d75dgcyjvl0wrmczczvr0ef88g5x8uehmr4fus0j0pwx to help keep me accountable and it’s been the key to actually building some momentum.

Keep it up! Walking literally changed my life. In so many simple & yet profound ways. More power to you!

Thank you! It’s a downright joy to walk for walking’s sake. Perfect time for audiobooks and music, or just silence and meditative thought. Honestly, I’m excited about making this a habit, about to head out now.

Walking and podcasts is great.. that’s my go to… and nvk in case I’m feeling too energetic 😝

I ran a triathlon in my mid 40’s. Came in a respectable middle of the pack but I realized the next year I’d move up an age group and I imagined I’d really beat up on those old geezers. Came in 2nd to last. Any random 40 year old can work themselves into shape to run a triathlon in a few weeks time but if you’re still doing it at 50, you’re a more or less serious athlete. So much easier to stay in shape than get in shape.

Great story. So true. This definitely motivated me, too. It just gets harder and harder to get fit, and fast, from here.

Nice work mate. Consistency is key! I’m sure the dog is loving you right now

He’s loving it. Five mile walk in the morning and he sleeps half the day lol. He’s gonna get in good shape too.

He looks like a good boy. Gotta give the people what they want

Nice work & keep at it. Mid 50s here and down 35 pounds over last 6 months. Keeping at the exercise, lift weights 2x a week and intermittent fasting (18:6) working well for me :)

LFG!

I recognize that path 😎

Good for you Brady

I appreciate you sharing this. Nice work Brady ☺️

I run every morning out that way if you want to join. Or hit the mountain bike trail!
