Als hätte Brüssel nicht schon genug Unsinn verzapft, kommt jetzt der nächste Streich aus der Kommandozentrale des europäischen Größenwahns: Die gute alte Baumwolle soll verboten werden. Ausgerechnet der Stoff, aus dem unsere T-Shirts, Jeans und Unterwäsche seit Generationen gemacht werden, passt nicht mehr ins klimarettende Weltbild unserer EU-Technokraten.
Was sich wie ein verfrühter Aprilscherz anhört, ist bitterer Ernst. Im Namen der heiligen Kreislaufwirtschaft und des allmächtigen Green Deals droht ab 2030 das Aus für Baumwolle in der EU. Der Grund? Die Naturfaser sei nicht recyclingfähig genug und der Anbau zu umweltschädlich. Die Architekten dieses Wahnsinns haben sich zwei wohlklingende Direktiven ausgedacht: die Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive und die Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive. Hinter diesen bürokratischen Zungenbrecher verbirgt sich nichts anderes als der Versuch, unsere Wirtschaft in ein grünes Korsett zu zwängen, das ihr die Luft zum Atmen nimmt.
Die Folgen? Deutsche Textilriesen wie Adidas, Hugo Boss oder Tchibo müssten ihre Produktion komplett umkrempeln. Die Alternative sollen dann wohl Hanf und Lyocell sein – Materialien, die teilweise noch mehr Wasser verschlingen als die angeblich so böse Baumwolle. Von den Kosten ganz zu schweigen. Aber hey, Hauptsache “nachhaltig”, oder? Doch während sich europäische Unternehmen mit einem Wust an neuen Vorschriften herumschlagen müssen, reiben sich die Konkurrenten in Asien die Hände. Die werden weiterhin munter Baumwolle verarbeiten und ihre Produkte dann zu uns exportieren.
Die Realität sieht so aus: Die EU sägt fleißig am Ast, auf dem unsere Wirtschaft sitzt. Erst die Automobilindustrie, dann die Baubranche, jetzt die Textilindustrie – wer ist als nächstes dran? Die Verbraucher werden die Zeche zahlen – mit höheren Preisen für grundlegendste Alltagsprodukte. Für die Eurokraten, die aus Steuerzahlergeldern fürstlich alimentiert werden, ist das vielleicht kein großes Ding – doch was ist mit Otto Normalverbraucher?
Das Traurige daran ist: Diese Politik wird als alternativlos verkauft. Dabei ist sie nichts anderes als ideologiegetriebener Aktionismus. Statt echte Innovationen zu fördern und pragmatische Lösungen zu finden, werden ganze Industriezweige an die Wand gefahren. Ist das die Politik, die die Menschen wirklich wollen?
