When I get interested in something, I like to binge. Whatever it is consumes the vast majority of my thoughts, my time, and my conversations.

In my adult life - the first one was (online) poker, then bitcoin, then a SaaS business, then learning to fly and getting my instrument rating, and now it’s nostr.

It works for me because in between obsessions I take long breaks but at times it drives #[0]​ crazy.

How about you? Are you more focused on balance or do you obsess like me?

Also I’ve always suspected helicopter pilots were crazy but it is good to get confirmation. Where are the other #nostr pilots? Perhaps we need to have a fly-in somewhere.

There seems to be a lot of division between plebs about recent changes to the TestFlight version of Damus, #onlyzaps . Although it is understandable that this change may cause some confusions, we keep forgetting that this community is still evolving, and experimentation is part of this process. We should never jump to conclusions or judge people (and dogs) too quickly. Do not forget that we all come from different countries and cultures, where language and actions are not interpreted in the same way as you may intend.

OnlyZaps mode does not and should not force people to part with their precious sats. In the end it is your personal choice how you want to engage or not with the note. If someone chose not to see or receive a like, it should be up to them with no “social pressure” to revert and align with the masses. Same goes for zaps, nobody forces you to receive them (or give). If you are truly valuing freedom, then partake in this experiment without judging. I may like OnlyZaps mode today, but that doesn’t mean I’ll feel the same about it tomorrow.

The dreaded topic of V4V, how can we all gain the maximum without giving equal value back. I would say it is not possible or sustainable, but that is just my opinion. The whole notion of “like”, “+1”, “shaka”, heart”, etc., is old and has no meaning. Even if there is an option to share full spectrum of your emotions, it will not translate to the other person the same way you intend. Same thing for colors, what are you going to do about colorblind people? Pictures, similar problem, what about the blind? Words are probably the best way to communicate, despite all the shortcomings. Zaps, maybe or maybe not, at least the language of numbers and money understood widely.

What I am basically trying to say is to give it a chance and do not reject or judge the trend before it starts. If we want to stick with the old and tried practices of social media, so be it. In this case, Twitter might not be so bad after all.

I’ll stick with OnlyZaps for now and will give it a full run for its sats. If it fails, that is fine, at least I tried.

Damus’ goal from day one has always been to give individuals complete control over the types of interactions they want to have. Algorithms, users, and advertisers do not have authority over individual preferences.

If a user doesn’t want to receive zaps, they can not add a lightning address to their profile. Now if they don’t want to receive likes, they can turn them off.

In the future users will also be able to turn off replies unless they are subject to certain conditions, such as if they are friends or only zap comments.

If you don’t like users who use these features, you don’t have to follow them. I still think you should try to respect users preferences even if you disagree with them. Just my 2 sats ✌️

I, like many others, have had the lightning bolt in my profile since zaps first became a thing. I wonder if people will think we are faking it or will they recognize we did it before it was cool and don’t need the “only zaps” label.

I am working on a #Bitcoin focused podcast with a side of #Nostr. I want this to be Podcasting 2.0 / Nostr only and if possible, to not have traditional advertising and sponsorship, 100% #V4V.

I’m planning mining related content and to share some recent experiences I’ve had speaking with legislators and lobbyists about Bitcoin.

I’m also interested in doing interviews, however I believe this can get very repetitive with Bitcoin guests and would like to bring something different.

So what, if anything would you like to hear that’s missing or not covered enough?

I have access to a full studio in Poplar Bluff, Missouri that could also be a Bitcoin meetup space and would like to live stream over #nostrnests. I’m open to multiple hosts and can do remote guests / hosts. I could use some help with music, graphic art and physical studio art if anyone is interested? All contributors will share in any sats paid V4V.

My service at camp, despite having Wi-Fi, is moderately frustrating. I assume that it is a sign to simply unplug, but I appreciate this community and it’s connection.
