Me every time I move sats to cold storage:
100% What we saw often in our practice when we updated a patient’s medical history is that they would start on 1 medication for a chronic condition and that would then become 2 and up to 7 rxs over as little as 10 years. We simply did not see any examples of physicians curing any chronic condition. The only time we witnessed this is when a patient took their health into their own hands typically via diet, exercise and sometimes supplementation.
Oh and btw fecal transplant is now accepted therapy by western medicine and is FDA approved.
I disagree. For example I’d be on metformin rather than reversing my diabetes via diet alone. I have also had experience with many of my own patients over the years who cured illness going against their physician’s advice. The most striking example was a patient 20 years ago who was dying of c diff. He had been in the hospital numerous times on ever increasing iv antibiotics, and had lost an extraordinary amount of weight. He read about fecal transplant and asked his doctors if it was a possibility. They all said it was a hoax and even harmful. He had it done by some back alley operation and it cured him. I know of so many stories like this with my patients. Doctors don’t have the time with patients that they used to so it’s important to do your own research and advocate for your own health.
So good I had to share
Thanks. I think most physicians no longer have the luxury of time with their patients and tend to push the easy solution of rx meds. That was my experience.
Oh and you are correct about there being outliers for health outcomes. Some of the most metabolically fit people we know are female triathletes with higher bmi’s than would be considered healthy. I have also seen a patient who has an insane 1900 calcium artery score and 20 years later has never had a cardiac event with their calcified pipes. I do think you generally should look at the average with health outcomes and diet though and then fine tune them to your own body.
Yes excellent additions! Hormones are particularly important to test as you get older. Balancing mine is something I’m currently struggling with.
I respectfully disagree. I discovered my diabetes through a blood test. I didn’t have any symptoms at the time and I was able to reverse it with diet and no meds. I see no downside to using blood tests as a way to maintain health especially if you are not getting yearly physicals.
Healthy diet, exercise, low stress and sunlight should go without saying.
Full carnivore is difficult. I try to eat mostly carnivore these days living on an island with access to incredible seafood and fresh fruit. I’d say I’m closer to keto than carnivore now. I have never used a cookbook. I basically ate steak, eggs and ground beef every day. I find the stricter and more monotonously I ate, the more I eliminated cravings. The 2 things I never gave up completely were coffee and wine.
Ooh great question. All the blood lab values are the same. W to H ratio should be .8 - .95 for men.
To stay healthy these days I watch my diet-avoid seed oils, processed foods, carbs and eat mostly meat, eggs and cheese. I also get a full blood work up + urinalysis once to twice a year. If you want to avoid prescription drugs for chronic illness, I think it’s better to take charge of your own health rather than rely on a physician. Here are the markers I find most helpful:
HbA1c < 5.7
Fasting glucose < 100
TG/HDL < 2
Triglycerides < 170
Uric acid < 5.6
And waist to hip ratio should be less than .8
Am I missing any?
Right? It still surprises me though.
Interesting about Cali!
I have heard a lot of anti Biden sentiment coming from Maui, both victims of the fire and locals but not specifically pro Trump. The Trump signs, flags and bumper stickers on Oahu have been a recent occurrence and still surprises me.
Agree, but Hawaii is so rabidly democrat. Even more so than my hometown of San Francisco in my experience with people here. I can’t remember seeing one Trump sign in 2016 or 2020 and now I’m seeing them daily. It’s wild.
Something strange is happening in Hawaii 😲
I’m going to treat myself to a little extra bitcoin this week.
