Wife, mom x 4, retired dentist, bitcoiner.

So many great questions that I agree should be answered. I’m also generally of the belief that our 2 party system is a two headed snake and neither party will address our national debt or government spending sufficiently. But, I am feeling a little more moved to speak this election than ever before and I like the people Trump has surrounded himself with compared to the Democrats. That and the thought that Ross Ulbrecht will be released has made me more interested in politics this year than usual.

Not at all and you have given me nothing to support your view except “Orange man bad.” Muting now for poor debate.

Almost all my friends here in Hawaii are liberal and all I ever get from them is “abortion rights” “Hitler” or “Fascism”. Funny note, 4 out of 5 people do not know what fascism is but use it anyway. Liberal buzzword.

“At least my guy is better than the other guy,” is not a compelling argument.

I’m no Trumper as was the point of my original post, but it’s not difficult to see that our country was better off 2016-2020 than we are under the current administration.

I cannot fathom how anyone would support a presidential ticket that openly embraces censorship and suppression of free speech. I’m also vehemently anti war, particularly as a mom and I appreciate the fact that we experienced diplomacy over military intervention for 4 years. I’ll pick Tulsi over Dick Cheney every time.

You sure you’re a bitcoiner? I never mind opposing views, in fact I welcome them and have looked deeper into so many subjects because of discourse with bitcoiners, but that is due to their intellectual depth and knowledge, not blind hate.

It’s an argument I don’t buy. My father is a nuclear physicist who invented the electron beam which is used for the heart scan and also baggage scanners at airports. He also serves on many medical technology company boards and his favorite saying is, “Physicists and engineers are the brains of a company, but the CEO is the heart that pumps the ideas out. Without a great heart the company dies.”

Interesting, why may I ask? I know one personally and can say she is one of the smartest, courageous, most humble, self disciplined, fair and giving people I have ever met.

I get it,but I see him like Steve Jobs-odd, opinionated, and prickly. There is alsono denying that he is visionary and gets shit done.

Elon?

An autist with fuck you money? He has actually grown on me.

So I’m not usually into politics, but this year feels different and I’m slightly more engaged.

So a question, do you have that friend group that is really fun to hang out with, interesting conversations, always a good time, but there is the one annoying guy in the group you really can’t stand, but you put up with him because you love everyone else?

That’s how I feel about the Republican Party now.

😂 You’re way too young to be my mom but…

Very depressing! I’m sure your family members just want to help people with their knowledge and the skills they have learned. There lies the problem. For example, my husband and I believed in the benefits of fluoride for the 27 years we practiced dentistry. When patients asked us if they should drink fluoridated water, did we research it? No. We spouted off what we were taught in dental school which is fluoridated water prevents tooth decay. Why were we never taught that the fluoride used in water systems is not the pharmaceutical grade fluoride used in toothpastes and mouthwash? It is a toxic waste product from fertilizer production. Why weren’t we taught that and why did we just accept it without questioning? I think healthcare providers tend to be smart and altruistic, but are rewarded for not questioning or being critical thinkers.

Are there intellectually curious, ethical researchers left? Of course. But to make a name for yourself in academia and research these days your politics better align with your university, or your company, AND your sponsors. I have been shocked by things my friends in academia have admitted in the last 10-15 years about their grant writing and how they have had to “evolve” to get funding.

Sure but this is one researcher who spoke out. How often do you think this happens? Or how often do studies show what their sponsors want them to show? I can design a dental study to produce almost any outcome I want if the financial incentive was there and I was willing to throw my ethics out the window.
