I think stablecoins are how we win.
USA is in an existential battle to keep USD global reserve status - it is the basis of their economy, they're fucked if they lose it and trump clearly knows.
The war is for users - that's what makes you the reserve. Used to be you could get users through their governments via bribes and threats (as well as genuine utility) but in the future plebs around the world will want to use what is on their phone etc - and governments have far less control.
USDT are literally USD. Trump will want as many people as possible worldwide to use it and any other USD stablecoins. They won't want any barriers, or kyc. They might even get eg NSA involved to help make sure governments like China cannot stop their plebs using them.
In this arms race cbdcs will be DoA as they depend on coercion. Only currencies that are freely useable, which you can go into and out of with minimum friction, will have a chance.
Everyone will be able to have wallets with these things, plus shitcoins, and bitcoin. But once you have free competition like this,, the best currency wins.
Having worked in that field, fwiw, it is shockingly difficult to attribute causality to any changes you see. Even if done in good faith you usually need really large trial cohorts to know if people are "faring better" because of an intervention.

the problem is it is essentially impossible to verify for yourself if trials etc were conducted in good faith - and so many have been proved to be conducted in bad faith that you really have to assume this is the case generally
even if things were to change and some actually benevolent power were to take control of this, it's hard to see how they could prove good faith
so you're left with traditional medicine, and gut feel really - for the duration

I think this may be how we win, and it's happening right now.
BRICS are already moving to a USD alternative for international trade and reserve currency. If successful this will destroy the current world economic order and the dominance of the USA whose economy is based on getting the world to hold USD and US treasuries to fund all the wars etc thru moneyprinting and borrowing.
So Trump responds by pushing a USD stablecoin - USDT or something they make. The reason to do this is to persuade *plebs* worldwide to keep using USD, not Yuan / BRICScoin.
To persuade plebs and get max reach in this currency war, USDT must have as low barriers to entry as possible. That means no KYC, no surveillance, as many wallets as possible etc.
Maybe yuan / BRICScoin follow suit, chasing plebs.
The basis of competition is that anyone in the world can easily go into OR OUT OF these govcoins.
At this point they have literally become shitcoins - you should see them on coinmarketcap etc. The USD world will all basically have a "crypto" wallet with USDT.. ..but also all the other govcoins and shitcoins.. ..and also bitcoin.
