I don't listen to a lot of top 40 radio. Hearing some today, and amazed by the lack of original songs.
Almost every song is a rehash/remix of another song from the past few decades.
some things you can do with any sats you might happen to have in WoS...
(1) Send the sats to another lightning wallet...since WoS was the easiest (and most cucked) mobile lightning wallet available, there's gonna be a learning curve if WoS is the only lightning experience you've had. Breez and Muun are probably now the easiest mobile lightning wallets available. Muntiny can run as a webpage, a cool feature...make sure to keep that seed phrase safe though. The self-custodial lightning wallets will require either your node or a LSP's node operating in the background, and these are the most bulletproof options, with the greatlest amount of logistics required. Bitbanana (previously known as Zap), Zeus, and Blue Wallet are some mobile options here.
(2) Send the sats to yourself on-chain. WoS will send on-chain txns as long as your balance is great enough (probably 10k sats of so). An interesting note is that in order to use WoS to receive on-chain, they charge a 0.5% fee (which is very uncommon for wallets to do and demonstrates that they held the keys the whole time).
(3) Buy something with the sats...some options are Bitrefill, extending your VPN term, or swag from lightning.store.
(4) Donate the sats to your favorite cause.
Shoutout to nostr:npub1jextjwgfkzspzk7h0yl6j27a8aqkaumncwajsrmmvsff5gt20q7slys82z for hosting the #Bitcoin #Meetup today for the Central Pa Bitcoiners. Great watching of Stranded. A documentary about Bitcoining Mining, electricity, and environmental benefits.
Great discussions had. Learned plenty and got to sell my first magnet 🧲 for Sats!
Cheers Dan! Next meetup is 3pm on Sat, Dec 16th at the Barn at Creek's Bend in Carlisle
If you need your payment to confirm quickly...someone might have sent a deposit to an exchange, or is trying to pay for a service they want ASAP. Most counterparties don't treat mempool txns as payments, so it's not "paid" until it's in a block, or in a block that's had some more blocks built on top of it.
There's no incentive to pay way over like that. No matter how much you pay though, the fastest it can ever confirm is when the next block is found. Blocks are found every 10 minutes on average, however the next one could be found in 10 seconds or an hour...
WoS should be considered to have comparable security to the mesh pockets in the waistband of bathing suits.
Could the $5 bill I put in there get swept out to sea? Yes. But I might want a sno-cone, and taking the risk is worth it.
Knowing the risk is indeed important.
I say go, especially if they're screening the short film "Stranded"
Ahh...I didn't see that one. I remembered they had canons from different well-known bitcoiners and Odell was among them, and it's not there today.
So they're saying that following what they themselves described as best practices (or a writer who they're promoting on their site anyway) will get one kicked off of their platform then now, no?
nostr:npub1tftc33ttam85wraffce62cgtvvjrmttquqlv6a0agtfm5nl4vues82xar5 used to have this great privacy guide by nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx on their site, among other canons by other curators.
I can't find it there today...what gives, Swan?

They're algorithm will be x hops.
In this statement, it says deposting directly to/from, so that's zero hops.
Like playing 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon, if they were to say we're kicking out anyone who's within 7 hops of a CJ, they wouldn't have any self-custody customers.
Have they been living up to the ideals they've promoted over the years? No, due to the companies they get into bed with.
If someone wants to acquire sats in a KYC fashion, would I recommend Swan them? Not my first choice nowadays...could do a lot worse though.
If you can find a place to make bulk purchases of your meat, that can reduce cost considerably. You will probably have to invest in a standalone freezer, however I'd wager it'll pay for itself in under a year.

Stop calling our charade a charade, please.

I love listening to What Bitcoin Did by nostr:npub14mcddvsjsflnhgw7vxykz0ndfqj0rq04v7cjq5nnc95ftld0pv3shcfrlx but man, those Ledger ads are getting annoying.
The ad read says Ledger is the "world leader in Bitcoin security" but that couldn't be farther from the truth.
Is a company that openly admits they can steal your #bitcoin at any time really a world leader in security?
Come on Peter, it's time to drop Ledger.
I concur wholeheartedly. When Peter endorses Ledger & Wasabi by reading their ads on his show, it makes it clear that he's either tone deaf or doesn't give a shit.
Makes me way less likely to listen or recommend his pod.
I'd put the 2024 halving likelihood
somewhere between Punxsutawney Phil still being relied upon for weather advice in 2024, and the sun coming up tomorrow.
Bitcoin.org Operator Cøbra Must Reveal Identity to Defend Themselves, U.K. High Court Rules
The U.K. High Court has rejected an appeal that aimed to protect the anonymity of the pseudonymous operator behind Bitcoin.org, known as Cøbra, stating that allowing them to participate in post-judgment costs proceedings would be an 'infringement on open justice.'
