I couldn’t agree more with you about debt. That really is sad. I thought your criticism was more about the origins of Christmas traditions. It seemed like you were describing them as somehow arbitrary or irrational. Would you agree that strange beliefs and traditions are inevitable, but can also be really meaningful?
This quote from ‘The Art of the Deal’ seems relevant here. Don’t underestimate the possibility that Trump is using exaggeration as a way to maximize leverage in foreign negotiations.
“My style of deal-making is quite simple and straightforward. I aim very high, and then I just keep pushing and pushing and pushing to get what I’m after. Sometimes I settle for less than I sought, but in most cases I still end up with what I want.”
The world would certainly be a sadder and less meaningful place without our traditions.
I don’t think he’s on Nostr yet. Maybe the nostr:npub1vzjukpr2vrxqg2m9q3a996gpzx8qktg82vnl9jlxp7a9yawnwxfsqnx9gc account can confirm.
When I need to be really productive, nothing beats 90s punk rock.
How so? Interested to hear your take on the connection.
That was a good episode and actually really scary at parts. The entire concept was memorable, especially with how the game learned what scares you most. Brutal ending. One of my favorites.
I really like nostr:npub1trr5r2nrpsk6xkjk5a7p6pfcryyt6yzsflwjmz6r7uj7lfkjxxtq78hdpu ‘s article “Check Your Financial Privilege” for some examples of what you’re explaining here. The piece was an eye opener for me a few years ago.
Reflections on the rosary. Today is Friday, which focuses on the Sorrowful Mysteries. One of these is the Agony in the Garden, the night prior to Christ’s torture and crucifixion. I’m moved by this moment in the story because it shows Jesus’s humanity in that he’s full of anxiety and dread for what is to come. While we typically think of God as being all powerful and removed from pain, here we see Jesus experiencing the painful realities of the human condition firsthand. It’s a reminder that our God understands our own suffering, anxiety, and mental anguish in an intensely personal way. It’s a strange comfort to me to reflect on the idea that God himself has shared in this very difficult aspect of life. This inversion, God himself suffering, is a unique aspect of Christianity that I’m beginning to have a deeper appreciation for.
Watch or listen - but this time I recommend watching!

This was a good interview. I’ve followed Carla and Walker’s content for a few years, but had never heard an interview with her before. Enjoyed learning about her story.
Christmas Spirit: Activated

Hi Adam. Found your post through the hashtag. How was Uvita and Bitcoin Jungle? I’m interested in visiting and trying to learn more about the community there.
This is also the topic of my favorite CS Lewis essay, “Men Without Chests.” He argues that there is an ultimate order (Tao), and aligning our behaviors to it leads to fulfillment and flourishing.
Does anyone know if Dante Cook is on Nostr? I always enjoy his content, and was glad to hear he joined the nostr:npub1vzjukpr2vrxqg2m9q3a996gpzx8qktg82vnl9jlxp7a9yawnwxfsqnx9gc team. nostr:note1620k4t26avcg2h634vexzvfvxjkuv09886nmp9ffqa0v3vde7e5s3u0gl2
At this point, they are family heirlooms that tell an important story about your family history. I think it would be honoring her legacy to keep them so that you can keep her story alive for the future generations of your family.
