Just started using this site. Not here for the Twitter stuff, since I never really used that site in any way aside from keeping up with stuff. More just came to touch new ground. This decentralization stuff is right up my alley.

Alongside Hesse books, I have also been reading bits of the webcomic Darths and Droids in my spare time. Go and check that out. I only read up to movie 6 so far, and it's absolutely fantastic.

"...But all that was not for me, it was for 'everyone,' for normal people, the people I saw everywhere in droves, thronging the entrances..."

"Then, just as I was giving up, when I had already returned to the sidewalk, a few colorful, glowing letters sprinkled down across the reflective asphalt in front of me.

I read:

'Only for the insane!'"

-The Steppenwolf, translated by Kurt Beals, page 33

I feel like there's a few places on the internet that remind me of that quote, even if I only started the book. Hope I see a bit more of that around here.

Found a new song writer and singer I like. Maya Clars. Even has a radio of her stuff on her site. It's nice.

https://mayaclars.com/

Seemed like a nice shot, so I took it.

Man, the Pope died. I might not be Catholic, but a lot of people liked that guy from what I hear.

At least he did not miss out on Easter.

You know I just sat down with my free time and watched long-form Youtube content about union politics. Got to say, it feels a lot better then the short stuff. You actually learn something, and it doesn't feel like time is moving so quickly. You get that feeling of doing something better with your time.

First thing I noticed.

I don't think the demographics behind the users of open source decentralized technology and those of social media match up very well. Not going to stop me from posting every once an a while though. "Be the change you want to see in the world" and all that.

If there's a few people around willing to say stuff that doesn't read like filler, that's enough.

I've been noticing I spend a lot of the day on Youtube doing nothing interesting. I think it has to do with the feeling of wanting to do my obligations later, causing me to avoid more satisfying long form entertainment for smaller stuff. Still end up watching it for a long time anyways.

Got to stop that.

This could either be a satire of right leaning politics as they have been recently, or left leaning politics as they developed over the course of years up until now. The fact that I can't tell probably says something about political parties and how they work.

Either way, he kind of looks like Alex from YIIK.

Something I was thinking about a bit ago.

Anyone else notice that at the beginning of Persona 5, the whole 'similarities to people are coincidental' is told to you by someone we eventually learn to a liar?

That detail occurred to me in light of the fact that each of the bosses in that game are based off of real people. It's a cool way to get around legal requirements using an unreliable narrator.

Something I had been thinking about for a while. If you've ever read Hermann Hesse's Demian, Demian just goes on these massive tangents, hardly giving Sinclair time to speak. I think people are more prone to discussing the content of his speeches, but I think the length of them says something about how much he wants to talk about everything upon finally meeting someone he thinks will understand. It's just an interesting characteristic.

Kind of reminds me when I was younger and used to play Pokemon Black. N has a text speed always set to be one higher than whatever the player makes it, even having a special speed exclusively for him if you max the text speed out in the settings.

I want to say this is indicative of people with interesting perspectives having something they want to say, but I've also met people irl who do this same thing to feign interest, or wise people who can come off as being reserved. Seems to me like it's a matter of author's either wanting to make a character come off as different, or the author wanting to discuss their own thoughts through them with near equal passion.

After getting set up around here, I got to say, it's a bit different from what I expected.

For one thing, I thought the node system would be a bit more like Reddit, with each node being for a different subject one would be interested in. Nope, turns out it's just for dementalization, with the most differentiation being for language differences. I guess this really does take more from Twitter.

For another, there's a lot more crypto talk here than I ever would have guessed. I guess modern tech fans, and the people marketing to them, just like to go to sites like these. Not in a position to question that trend given the link in my profile.
