What would y’all do if you had access to a lot of coffee grounds?

I get about 10 bags like these every week or two from a friends coffee shop. They bring beans up from their family farm in Central America, so they’re really high quality.

Our soil here is quite alkaline so I was looking for free ways of acidifying.

So far I’ve top dressed blueberries and other acid loving plants- but they’re maxed out until the new air layers are rooted

Have also been composting the grounds with grass and leaves, adding them to a brushy hugelmound, and sprinkling them into the regular kitchen scrap compost.

We don’t have a worm farm yet since we travel a lot in summer and don’t want them to die.

Would you add them raw to a potting mix?

Any other ideas?

My latest cutting board; Black cherry with a smoke colored "river" with gold flakes and streaks.

I had intended to put this rose near a trellis but really like how they look cascading over this rock wall.

2 years ago, on a walk, I saw this majestic, blooming vine on a tree in the woods. I picked some flowers with stems and rooted them. 1 year ago, I moved them to this hillside herb and flower garden.

The tree where the vine was no longer has this gorgeous vine. The county apparently trimmed the tree back from the power line and took out the vine in the process.

Yet, she is a determined vine. Today, she sent this middle finger (2nd photo) to the county line maintenance crew. Perhaps I shall harvest a few of my blooms, root them, and plant them at the base of another tree nearby.

Be like this rose.

Well, it seems the chicks have outgrown their brooder box. They need to be moved into the big chicken house this week.

To all the chicken experts, what is your procedure for introducing pullets to the hen flock?
