In a video statement addressing Christians around the world, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that “Israel is the only country in the Middle East where the Christian community is thriving and where Christians can practice their faith with full rights with open arms”.
The remarks come despite daily attacks, harassment and arrests targeting Christians in Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank by Israeli settlers, police and military forces.
Israeli forces have also shelled Gaza’s only Catholic church earlier this year, killing and wounding a number of civilians.
