I would like to learn more about setting up a lightning node. I’m intimidated by the hole damn thing but really want to get my region of NY, The Finger Lakes Region, to be a local BTC destination for tourists. Known for wineries and breweries and I know some of the owners that would let me set them up to accept BTC but they are scared of the tax implications and they don’t know shit about BTC I want to orange pill some of them while trying to grow the network. I’m just a tree guy and not great with the tech end of this. The idea is sound in my mind but I don’t know how to get traction on it. Handling my own cold storage is about as sophisticated as I am right now. And even this Nostr site is very jargony and jammed up with enemies and zaps and language that I don’t understand. Only found this #grownostr today after listening to Guy’s recent podcast. Doubt this is the type thing u meant by ur post but wtf figured i would text anyhow. At least I satisfied the DM somebody assignment

Does anyone know a site that helps folks meet other local Bitcoiners? I swear I’m the only damn person in the entire Finger Lakes Region of NY and it’s annoying as shit. Listening to Guy Swann talk about trying to get contractors to accept BTC for putting up a fence etc is the type thing I try to do with local breweries etc and would love to setup a lightning node and figure out how I could facilitate that in the tourist area I live but I don’t know shit about setting up a node. Similarly I don’t know shit about how Nostr even works or who the hell would even see this, if anyone. All I see on here are things I don’t understand like zaps and memes.Heard Foss on with Vallis say he has no clue how to use Nostr and has to stick with Bitcoin Twitter. I feel like him, but hate Twitter. Just lookin for someone near me to help me with this damn lightning node or a site to meet local BTC folks.

New to this and completely clueless. Heard about on various BTC podcasts but don’t understand much of the lingo used in the how to use Nostr type posts I have read. I’m too much of a meathead to be able to change the damn robot pic. All I see for the pic area in settings is the ability to “Scan text” and I don’t think a JPEG is a text to scan but I didn’t realize a JPEG could be some million dollar asset either. So again WTF do I know. Just a tree guy.
