Haha that’s debatable. Value falls to the marginal cost of production. Chinese governments who enslave children and Uighur Muslims aren’t making the least among them more wealthy. And I don’t want poor and hungry individuals anywhere. But who do you want to control America’s economy and, really, national security (steel, API for pharmaceuticals, etc)? I work with Americans week in and week out that can’t afford to feed a family real food on a blue collar job. They don’t know why their health is failing at 35 years of age and the thought of buying a home is something of dreams. There will always be poverty no matter where you move jobs. But I’ll be damned if I advocate for another country taking American’s jobs so that corporations profit.
Trump knows not to go back to a gold standard. That demands trust. And that is long gone. He’s not as dumb as Peter Schiff.
Haha no I didn’t? Where are the good made on Walmart shelves? We’ll teach you to critically think before it’s over.
My son loves to run, so we signed him up for an indoor track team this winter. Each of them have fundraising they have been asked to do. I told him we should try and raise the money in #Bitcoin to teach his coach and team about real money. Please don’t feel any obligation, but would love to show him support from the #Nostr community. We are grateful for any #Sats! Please like and share! We really appreciate it!
You stopped responding, likely because it occurred to you why those corporations sent factories overseas-cheaper labor. The unskilled/blue-collar worker hasn’t had a raise (inflation adjusted) since the 70s. Tariffs are not a tax on the poor. It brings corporations home and raises wages for the least skilled. As for pricing, the last time tariffs were raised, China subsidize the tariff in order to move product and incentivize corporations to stay. Meaning, the burden was placed on the Chinese tax payer. We run a ginormous trade deficit and the worst thing for our economy is cheap Chinese goods. It is NOT a tax on the poor.
If you can’t check your coffee a little bit, it’s not coffee. TIME TO GO!
Been wanting to recommend Existential Kink for 3 weeks now. https://youtube.com/shorts/C3c37BSWyo0 I first read it about 4.5 years ago. As we entered Scorpio season last month I felt drawn back to it perfectly in sync with the depth of Scorpio vibes and been doing the EK process, finding hidden unintegrated shadowy pleasures in my psyche manifesting seemingly undesirable circumstances in my life. I highly recommend it.
Also, meant to say Carolyn Elliot not Myss. #shadowwork #inneralchemy #alchemicalartist #alchemy
Huh. Interesting.
Bitcoin can’t scale. It’s going to be too expensive and slow as more and more adopting occurs for regular joes to transact on the base layer. As fun as lightening is, it’s not a solution. It doesn’t support miners and channels are going to become more and more centralized that look a heck of a lot like banks. Saying that lightening, off-chain settlement, is a good way for BTC to scale, is counterintuitive to why we all got into BTC in the first place. There is a need for a digital layer 1 that can scale for this reason. BTC will be treated as a store of value, but not a unit of exchange for everyday use in my opinion.
Aren’t you comparing a money to service provider here? And not a service provider to a service provider?
Because of money printing and GATT. Corporations sent their labor overseas to line their pockets and not compete with Made In America. And when somebody makes the case that we should raise tariffs to bring Corps home or put cost on foreign nations, “Orange man bad”. It’s bananas.
My favorite is when somebody tries to tell me to buy land… because it’s scarce and “they can’t make anymore”… but when you say, “oh, like Bitcoin?”, they retort, “yeah, but I can’t spend Bitcoin at the store”… “oh, like land?”…
It’s mental gymnastics for some people to NOT engage in growth.
I think we have to be willing to integrate more news onto Nostr. Bitcoin stuff is great, but not everybody is a BTC maxi. Some may find more benefit from a news feed that they can share and engage with. Integrating Ground News or something like that. When people realize they can vote with zaps, it’s a game changer.
I agree. Why are most goods you see made in China?
