That’s a big deal in multiple ways. Way to go!
😂 i wonder how long ours would last if we adopted their smoothness standards
I didn’t see what they were saying, but just thinking this through… if we approach this from a freedom perspective, a relay is just someone’s computer, I don’t think we want a world where everyone is free to write stuff to other people’s computers when they aren’t welcome to do so. But everyone IS free to run their own relay, fill it with content that they aren’t getting elsewhere, and share it with whoever they please!
I’ve been shooting digitally for long enough that I still am used to iso being a major limiter. This is so cool!
This is all from conversations that I have had with real people on the topic.
This is probably the wrong forum to ask on, but are there really people out there who think nostr:npub1sn0wdenkukak0d9dfczzeacvhkrgz92ak56egt7vdgzn8pv2wfqqhrjdv9 was wrong? Not government assholes, real people.
There are lots. They will say that he should have gone through official channels (like we see Grusch doing now) and also often mistakenly I think believe that he leaked the documents. Also that the revelations were not worth the lost intel collecting methods.
People would do that stuff while not using Tor?? Isn’t it the user not the relay who determines whether they are on Tor?
Based on the paper it seems like they are used to jumping to session or, presumably, simple x
Research - Managing CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) on decentralized social media protocols.

I thought this paper was worth a read. It goes in to how child sexual abuse material is discoved and shared on social media. Mostly it talks about the fediverse, nostr is mentioned only to say they’re aware of nostr and it has different issue than the fediverse. We will have to deal with this stuff, relay operators and media hosts in particular are potentially liable. Nostr.build already has a content moderation team, others are going to need to do something or risk losing their domain name like has happened to some mastodon servers.
This is great. Now we need people to go do this stuff in a way that ideally any client and relay can use. Also places like Nostr build. One idea would be to have a way of indicating which relays are serving this stuff. Metrics like that could potentially incentivize big relays to get this done.
My first thought is that accepting bitcoin doesn’t change what I’d open!
Is there a way to “share” a non-nostr-native URL for someone’s post from Damus?
Cc nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s nostr:npub1zafcms4xya5ap9zr7xxr0jlrtrattwlesytn2s42030lzu0dwlzqpd26k5
I like to update the URL that Damus makes (which uses snort I think) to primal because it will load a preview
Hope many stops
lol
Another place the analogy breaks down is that OP being forced to pay for research into cancer cures could benefit OP
I had a few ideas that might be part of the reason the vibe is so good here on Nostr
1: it’s difficult for people who live for engagement metrics to get totally accurate engagement metrics
1B: those people often have bigger audiences elsewhere so feel stuck on those platforms
2: notes don’t last forever, so the strategy of trying to go down in history as the worlds most smart person by shutting everybody else down doesn’t work as well as it does on Reddit
