I read (listened to) the first 4 chapters today 🤣🤣

Why did I read this book?

I’ve seen it mentioned often, and as a student of finance and all things BTC I thought it would be helpful to glean new insights, and I hadn’t read it before.

What am I hoping to learn?

Anything I don’t already know. You don’t know what you don’t know. It already gave me a clearer picture of stock to flow, and how that works.

I have a pretty decent understanding of money and how it works, so much of this is review for me, but I appreciate the reinforcement of things I’ve heard/learned elsewhere.

Money = medium of exchange

ANYTHING can be a token of value, to be used as a medium of exchange. The trick is making it useful through time/space/exchange.

I wish this was the way it was taught in school.

I am really enjoying the book so far, and I’m looking forward to learning more and seeing everyone else’s responses.

Option to display as one or the other?

I joined NOSTR for the value-for-value idea. I would rather show a content creator I appreciate their content with a zap of anywhere from a couple pennies, to thousands of dollars. I don’t want to pay a third party, or have the creator pay a cut to a platform or other entity. I give them something of value (Satoshis) for their content which I have found value in, be it art, snark, prose, or story.

I want to be rewarded for my content… not the platform selling advertisements off my content. I want to share the value I find in other’s content.

But that doesn’t mean you have to. Social media is what you make it, and the avenues you choose to participate in.

I choose to step outside of the wall gardens, with the iron fences, gatekeepers, and censors.

I choose Freedom over algorithms anyway.

2 things I’ve noticed:

I typed a long post… (my first) after about 600-700 characters it started bouncing the writing pane up and down every time I went to a new line of typing, and made writing very difficult. I can capture video next time it happens.

Other thing was when I click on a picture and rotate my phone, the picture closes and pops me to the top of the person profile page.

Using the latest Damus release on the AppStore on an iPhone 14 Pro with iOS 16.5 BETA.

I feel like a first post should contain something significant.

Especially since it’ll live forever on the blockchain.

My Life Tenants:

1. Learn something new every day.

2. Laugh, because LIFE is joy.

3. Leave the world a better place than you found it.

Strive to be 1% better every day.

Progress. Not perfection.

People will be people.

Individuals are relatable, and flexible.

Today is the tomorrow I was stressed about yesterday.

Live in the today, the now.

Plan for the future.

Cherish the past.

Learn from mistakes.

Mantras work.

Practice makes *progress*.

Don’t trust, verify.

Invest in myself, more than I invest in anything else.

Because I am worth it.

Regret is making the choice I can live with, not thinking about the what-ifs, what-could-have-been.

To be human, is to err.

To grow, learn.

Honesty, not niceties, make life long friends.

Always be honest with myself.

Look myself in the mirror and say “I love you”.

Many of these words are not my own… I’ve adapted, modified, and used these throughout my life. I don’t remember where/who all I’ve collected them from, but they have done me well.

Hopefully they can serve others as well.

As a medical professional I find this picture exquisitely beautiful and very representative of our circulatory system, and incorporates the tree of life into the lungs… which is where our breath of life comes from. This is amazing!!! Thank you for sharing this!!

Reminds me of a Puscifer album cover or something similar. Very cool!!

This was one of my favorite shows as a kid. They also did a decent reboot recently (pun intended) with several seasons out on Netflix I think. Total kids show, but still entertaining.

Ahhhh, the first social media platform I joined… EVER. (AIM & ICQ don’t count) My first internet friend… Tom! Ahhh the heady days of dialup, and the screams of sacrificing tiny robots every time you dialed into a BBS or ISP.

Thank you for the reminder of what the internet used to be, and still can be. Looking forward to NOSTR taking over social media.
