Reminds me of a hilarious Baldurs Gate 3 review I saw on steam.

Dude has like 1000+ hours in the game.

The review was like:

"Guys I think my job is getting in the way of my Baldurs Gate 3. Should I quit?"

I’m fairly convinced memes are the most effective way of sending your key messages across nowadays.

Keep memeing ladies and gents.

What are your go to analogies/reasonings in explaining a deflationary world to friends & family?

Feels like my explanation is still seems too "far fetched" for most people around me.

Inspired by Grant's tweet

My guess here is most people still need a sustainable inflow of fiat currencies to survive and make due payments.

And to get fiat inflow, the optimization has to be around "sales, engagement, impressions" etc. like you said.

Until things are really priced in sats and/or truly deflationary, this constraint will likely still persist.

Keep creating value in the meantime.

Any other cultures or practices that treat gold as "generational savings"?

In Asia a big practice is to for the groom's parents to buy gold for the bride.

And the mentality there is always "you can pawn it in the future if you need money".

The gold my wife got is just sitting there collecting dust. Literally HODLing the gold.

Imagine doing that but with bitcoin.

With all the obvious benefits.

Just needs consistent messaging and education. Looking to do something there for the Asian + Southeast Asia scene soon. We are usually 3-5 years behind.

Exactly. I don't like finance or geopolitics but the system was set up such that I must learn it to increase the odds of my family and myself thriving (or at least, not suffering) in the future.

Could have stayed an engineer making sure machines run well and shit but little to no incentive.

*Goes to X for news*

*Goes to Nostr for the community & decentralized social media*

*Sees people going crazy over Lyn's left ear"

Great note, was literally thinking that today. People I follow on X are heavily skewed towards one side.

Need to be more be aware of my biases.

Not an American but lived in LA for four years.

As left & liberal as it can get. Was under the crowd mentality (was not that blatantly bad under Obama back then) and was subconsciously thinking like the left (i.e. would have voted Dems if I were American).

Then worked at a Texas-based company (and Texas) for a bit. Then became a full bitcoiner. Then saw how crazy things have become in 2024 for the Dems. Even high profile, life-long dems are struggling to justify their actions this year.

Makes sense to vote for Trump this time around.

By next election both sides will have to be pro-bitcoin to have any chance of winning.

but then my feed will be full of anime and classic memes

Sign me up.

Always wondered about the skepticism from critics or that “Bitcoin is a cult”.

I mean, if taken to the extreme, it could be interpreted that way. But what’s more important to me is the underlying values of Bitcoin that community members stand for.

Individual sovereignty? Check

Financial sovereignty? Check

Transparency and privacy? Check

Aren’t countries or religions unifying people based on a set of values / principles as well?

My first bitcoin purchase was under the influence of alcohol

From shitcoin to bitcoin

Nothing has changed

I don't know a lot of senior people who play golf but goddamn Trump plays darn well for a man his age.

Consistent drives, solid putts leading to solo birdie and eagle?

Surprisingly entertaining video. Bryson a monster with the driver as usual.

Arguably the most important aspect of secure storage is still your seed phrase

Seriously, what a great explanation of the importance of PoW. Great analogy using Zuck and papa Powell.

Will eventually write an article on why I think Bitcoin is so hard to understand.

Hard to comprehend a form of sound money that is decentralized yet more portable, divisible (and arguably immutable) than gold.

Gold is a big thing in Asia so will tackle from that angle.

I mean, it took me 7 years to be fully onboard Bitcoin.

Went through the whole buying for numbers go up phase as a college student, trading & setting stop loss phase when I started working, before reaching the hodl phase today.

Managed to orange pill my mom but its more because she is supporting my initiative to go completely into bitcoin, rather than her own understanding of bitcoin.

One step at a time.
