I’ll never understand

The last few days I've not had any good feelings about nostr, and I've considered what else I could do with my life. Seriously. Today I just muted the main problem. Hopefully my mojo comes back.

If you want privacy, use tor. If you don't use tor and you wanted privacy, then you are an idiot. If you insist that people need to worry about relays seeing your IP address, you are lost in the frickin' weeds and I can't help you and I can't pander to your delusions any longer. If you don't have an IP address, you can't be on the Internet. It is a layer we cannot be bothered with. I spent time building things for this half-ass privacy perspective that I don't even believe in (user controls of which relays to connect to) and I'm sick of pandering to it. It's a dumb perspective. So are VPNs (you can't possibly trust a VPN provider, it is an architecture with an impossible trust model). I've got more important things to do than argue this shit, much less build for this half-ass privacy mindset. Use tor ffs. Or use a half-ass VPN solution. Or just accept that nothing you do on nostr is really very private, like I do. Or go build a client relay.

Non profit organizations should join Nostr, activate their lightning wallet, and post updates about the people they help and the work that they do. They make these posts on other social media sites all the time, but people can't do a single click zap support over there. They can here. #grownostr

I don't understand half the things I see, it's all dev talk, GitHub, nips #s. I've actually asked and have been told, you don't need to understand it.

None of the Bitcoin stores work like they are supposed to because very few people want to spend "freedom money". No stores push post anything in them at all. My Etsy is failing miserably because all prices are too high. It just takes money from me for fees.

In terms of the damage actually done it was trivial. Israel "won" that exchange and the US is trying to convince Israel to take the win and not respond.

In terms of the number of mutitions fired it appeared that it could have been more than proportional if not defended against, and that is undoubtedly the reasoning Israel will use.

Let me make my stance on Iran vs Israel explicit:

1. Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis are NOT Iran. They may be funded and supplied by Iran, they may get advice from Iran, but just like Ukraine is not the United States, these groups are not Iran and legally speaking, according to the UN Charter, the Geneva Conventions and other international law, Iran is not culpable for the actions of these groups. The groups themselves bear full responsibility for their own actions.

2. Iran recently attacked Israel. This was the first time Iran ever attacked Israel AFAIK. They were very careful about it. They followed Chapter VII Article 51 of the UN charter, and reported to the Security Council their exercise of their right to self-defense before they attacked. They compiled with the proportionality rules of the 1949 Geneva Convention, and furthermore limited their attack to military targets, and not even to people but things like airstrips where nobody died. They didn't have to be that careful, but clearly they are trying to only send a signal, rather than escalate. They clearly announced afterwards that their attack was over and there would be no further retaliation, that the matter is now resolved.

3. There is no right of self-defense for a strike that was itself fully legally compliant self-defense. Israel has no right to respond.
