Just set up my first #meshtastic node. I have it connected now to an externally mounted antenna. Sadly, or happily, I am the first node in #Shanghai #China. I can’t see anyone else yet.
Still struggling to get the MQTT to show my #lora node up on the map after enabling uplink/downlink channels… not sure why. Maybe VPN, maybe a mistake.

Even if the U.S. government sells all their seized bitcoin, the daily interest on the national debt will exceed the one time proceeds.
Nothing stops this train. Looking forward to some cheaper sats.
This is exactly where my mind has gone :) I already have an external 433mhz antenna mounted that could get 10km+, so might as well make it into a Meshtastic relay to cover the greater Shanghai area. Will see how it goes.
HSBC will be exploring zero knowledge proofs for identity, privacy, and scaling programmability in e-HKD on public ledgers - Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, and Linea. This may show Hong Kong the benefits in considering public ledgers and self custody in addition to custodial private ledgers. Perhaps one day the HKMA may consider backing HKD in part with Bitcoin. It is a journey.
I’m particularly excited about the privacy token aspects. It will be a lively discussion.
Sadly, nothing listed in my area yet. I know there were a bunch of nodes doing helium lorawan back in the day… maybe will see some of them.
Purchasing a Lilygo T-Echo 433 to try #Meshtastic in Shanghai. Wonder if I’ll see anyone else
aha moment last night when nostr:npub18yvpnchj7yaepjk8yz2pn66hfmmup505aqvx0lpyc3aree0g5fyq8clpz3 sold me a #meshtastic device. He went to bed in our hotel and sent me a message over meshnet while I was still at the lobby bar. Going to have fun with this thing

Eager to see what you create.

Setting up a BitBar was the highlight of my week. Best seed phrase storage I’ve ever found. Half kilo of Swiss engineered stainless steel. It was gifted to me by a friend I orange pilled, but I highly recommend it to anyone now.

Made my pitch: AI BattleBots in China. I want to see the world’s best human driven battlebots compete against fully autonomous AI battlebots in China. This is ping-pong diplomacy for a social media era. If the CCP were to invite a niche TV show to compete, the western media would lose their minds.
Watching as IBM China R&D closes, and laid off all 1000+ people. I don’t think most people understand how significant this move is, and the signal it is sending to both China and the world.
I found out the reason - they shut down the account because I am inside mainland China WITH a HK resident card. It’s a bit odd, but these days they will shut you down on just about anything.
Spent the day learning about zero knowledge proofs to create privacy UTXO tokens managed on Ethereum.

“Good luck… in your next life” haha
My OSL Hong Kong account has been mysteriously shut down after only 3 months of opening, with a single BTC trade. I can’t tell if it was because one of my verified wallets gave them concerns, or perhaps because I am American (maybe they changed their policy), or perhaps because they found I am a permanent resident in China? Or maybe they don’t like that I only did 10k HKD and found their service ludicrously expensive. Who knows. It’s quite disappointing to see the state of Hong Kong these days. I also was denied a bank account at ZA due to being American and the HKMA complaint resulted in “oh well.” State of the world.
I have been thoroughly impressed with the CoinJoin plugin inside nostr:npub155m2k8ml8sqn8w4dhh689vdv0t2twa8dgvkpnzfggxf4wfughjsq2cdcvg. I’m not an expert on it. It has so many configurations possible to run your own coordinator, and I’m a bit lost on knowing the full risks and costs of using other coordinators. I’ve started small, and hope to keep learning as I go.
Keybase had a great way of associating proofs of identity (dns, social media, wallets, etc) to a private key. I wish there was something like that for Nostr clients like Damus so I could start to easily filter spam accounts impersonating other users. Centralization is not always bad, as long as I can toggle the service provider and retain my data without censorship.
