Dad. Husband. Math teacher. Runner. Amateur writer. Fisherman. Mediocre guitar player and volleyball player. We need a new cultural enlightenment. I want to be a part of it.

Yep. Need a balance of both imo. nostr:note1maml03k8wq3heaqx9qjjqs7q0t5jeqa3dg58ss3x0xxscv894lvspjrnjp

My 6yo has started describing things as ā€œon the leftā€ or ā€œon the rightā€.

But he has no idea which is which. It’s just a guess. šŸ˜‚

Yup. You think when they get out of baby stage that you’ll be in the clear. Nope. Lol

Three years ago we completely redid the landscaping on two sides of our house. These roses are an annual highlight and this year they have really taken off. #grownostr

Good morning #coffeechain. Here's a mindset shift I heard yesterday.

Instead of "I will be successful when...", try "I am successful when..."

It shifts the perspective from success always being somewhere "out there" in the unknown future, to it being something you can attain in the present.

Oh my god this story absolutely heartbreaking nostr:note1wzn4ml9uzwvxxc4p3xkjlnm0535epk689apl9wk2hd65uy7uzd7sqtxsh5

Keep this in mind as the election heats up. #memes

Great article.

ā€œLG: What did you find out? Why has achievement pressure reached such a fevered pitch?

JBW: I interviewed sociologists, historians, psychologists, economists to answer this very question. There are several reasons, but what resonated most are the macroeconomic forces at play. When I was growing up, life was generally more affordable. Real estate, health care, higher education — even groceries were more affordable. Parents felt reasonably assured that their kids could live a kind of zigzag life and still wind up okay.

Most children back then could replicate their parents’ childhoods and even end up better off financially. But today, nearly two-thirds of Americans no longer believe that’s the case. White middle-class children who were born in 1940 had a 90% chance of out-earning their parents. For children born in the ’80s, their chances of out-earning their parents fell by 50%. Today, Millennials on average have lower earnings and less wealth than past generations did at their age.ā€

Ugh. I’m gonna have to do some research. Mine goes to cold storage anyway, but still.

Heading into the school to finish prepping for the first day tomorrow!

It’s wild. Something that big shouldn’t float.

Good run today despite the humidity and despite being on vacation and eating like it. #runstr #running #grownostr

Second cup as promised. #coffeechain
