Three years ago, I built an Umbrel node.

Last summer, I built a node from scratch.

Today, I finished my nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll node.

I don't like recommending technology to people without fully having used it myself. I often tell people to use Start9 even though I only never "used" it in any production sort of manner. I only installed the OS, poked around the settings and marketplace a bit, then stopped using it.

That changes today. I will be migrating my Umbrel node over to my Start9 node as soon as Bitcoin finishes syncing.

Can you explain more why you are?

We're thrilled to announce that Mutiny Wallet beta is now available to everyone. Getting started with Lightning has never been easier.

https://blog.mutinywallet.com/mutiny-wallet-open-beta/

What is Mutiny? It's the first self-custodial lightning wallet that runs on the web, putting the control of your funds in your hands.

Mutiny is about breaking barriers. We're solving the onboarding problem for Bitcoin, regardless of who you are, where you live, or what device you're using. There's no need to provide identity to a regulated institution, making Bitcoin accessible to 5 billion global browser users

But our mission doesn't stop there. We aim to make the experience as user-friendly as possible and provide unique features not seen before. Our position allows us to experiment with new concepts and we can't wait to share some of these with you.

At the heart of our application are the building blocks built off Block's Lightning Development Kit (LDK) project. A new Lightning library that's fine-tuned for customization, LDK even allows us to compile it for the web - a task that was impossible until now.

We understand that managing liquidity is a challenge. That's why we've partnered with Voltage to be the main Liquidity Service Provider. With Flow 2.0, which we helped develop, new Mutiny users to receive their first Lightning payment within seconds of opening the app.

We've decided to separate the balance between your funds in Lightning channels and funds for on-chain spending. While it introduces a little more complexity, our trade-off ensures users are always in control.

Just like many Bitcoin wallets, your seed words secure all your funds on Mutiny. We've taken it a step further by adding encrypted & remote storage for restoring your latest Lightning-related data.

We've also integrated Nostr Wallet Connect, a social tipping feature. It allows you to request payments from your wallet, tip users, and more. Future iterations will enable automatic payments under a certain amount specified by you.

We're also introducing Mutiny+, our first subscription feature built on top of NWC. You'll get a payment request from Mutiny to renew your subscription each month. The control is in your hands, money will only leave your wallet once you accept the payment request.

While we're launching the beta for everyone, we're aware of a few bugs. We're working hard to iron them out, but please bear with us. For now, treat Mutiny as a "spending" wallet, like cash in your pocket.

Our goal is to make the wallet experience normie ready over time and make it a reliable tool for all. We encourage you to test the wallet, let us know your thoughts. We're dedicated to fixing bugs quickly and shipping new features.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you test out the wallet, please let us know what you think. Stay tuned as we continue to push the envelope in making Bitcoin more accessible to everyone.

This looks awesome. Can’t wait to try it out

nostr:npub1a3hrd4wfawr578d5y5l0qgmh7lx8q6tumfq0h7eymmttt52veexqkcfg37 really enjoyed latest podcast. More people should listen to what you guys put out.

The AI narrative is exhausting. VC’s are going to find a way to monetize it and I’m sure it won’t make sense but I do really enjoy his posts and writing. Bitmex was ahead of its time

This is great. More people need to be aware nostr:note1xum5h82kwwhnqezta34m93nsmvhnn5yxcqfy6fjtrx4c3udmx0eqza58rf

nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx irt to your comment on people not spending. Want to provide why I don’t spend. I don’t want a custodial lighting wallet. Right now node software is VERY unreliable and then you have channel liquidity / management. I’m pretty technical but right now it is a terrible experience. It frustrates me when people say I’m using wallet of satoshi but then after trying and trying to mainitain a self custody lighting wallet I see why. Things are hard, but to do this the right way very few people will do this. Talking out both sides of my mouth I would pay your vendor with a custodial wallet to support the cause. Still early.

Everyone should listen to this. We need more tools like that are privacy focused and can be built in. nostr:note1xx3m2rz98ftqhc5ru5rf4f86csan7quuyuptjpud8wxnq8njp2dqguf4us

I am trying to get my node back online after moving. I struggle with reliability of most node software, slowness and ui is still a struggle. I am trying to understand if others struggle with this. Outside of Ui, reliability is the most important imo. Thinking of getting a ministry of nodes box bc I don’t think the pi’s are cutting it anymore.

I see people posting things like this and I can’t get my umbrel to reliably stay connected or running for longer than a day
