What about the rights of the property owner? Small Mom & Pop landlords might have their entire life savings dumped into a rental property and their retirement relies on the passive income from operating a short term rental business. Now the government just gets to decide they have the right to defy free market forces and crush their savings vehicle!? That's fucked. 4 years notice is respectable but its not going to lower prices. Maintenance & upkeep costs, utilities, property taxes, INSURANCE, mortgage interest rates....all these have have gone up at least 40% with no signs of slowing down.. I have no clue if tourists are the real problem here but my guess is they're just the scapegoat.
