Gradually demonetizing my neck of the woods

Missed this one at publishing, tnx for reposting this one-hits home hard. The bust was inevitable. Took out a commercial loan in 2020, cheap credit. Didn't appropriately plan for the inevitable, interest rate doubled and I'm a bit fucked today

Is 882318 for sale?

Asked nostr:nprofile1qyt8wumn8ghj7ct5d3shxtnwdaehgu3wd3skueqpp3mhxue69uhkyunz9e5k7qpqkumadawgefxjt2c293whsan5sfmdg5tylm0uk39enc6uxxfy5m4sdln07f 's neurologist for a copy of her MRI. It's crazy how bad the tumor looks.

This is a horizontal slice through the top of her head. You can just see where her eyes are about to come into view at the top of the pic.

The tumor is pretty obvious. It's the half golf ball. The neurologist was also concerned that the meninges surrounding her brain on that whole side were also lighting up (white outline on the tumor side but not the other), either due to inflammation or possibly additional tumor spread.

This second view she's lying upside down facing us, we're moving in through her face in vertical slices. The tear drop features at the top are teeth.

The golf ball is pushing her brain back and to the side. The good news is that the prednisone calmed down the meninges so the main mass looks to be the only thing we need to worry about.

We start radiation therapy tomorrow to try to kill off most of the tumor and hopefully shrink it a bit.

Curious what people are looking for on nostr. I just post what’s on my mind, irrespective of how it’ll be received, but it occurred to me people only occasionally here for that type of content.

I’m here for two reasons: (1) To find signal — I want to learn something or be reminded of something that’s true; and (2) to find an audience for my thoughts and observations, to distribute my ā€œwork.ā€

The first is hit or miss. There’s a lot of GM posts and a lot of technical posting that’s over my head. But there’s enough signal to make checking my feed worthwhile.

The second is also hit or miss. I find *some* engagement, have grown a surprisingly decent following, but many if not most posts go into the void. I also wonder why it matters, since I am not making a living in nostr, and following/engagement for its own sake is largely empty dopamine.

But I guess I envision a world where one *might* one day make a living just expressing thoughts and observations, and that amazingly utopian prospect keeps me going — imagine how cool it would be just to speak your mind and get paid for it.

To be clear, no one is obligated to read anyone else’s posts, and maybe my interests and worldview just don’t resonate with that many people. After all, I’m almost 54, and most of the people using this protocol are much younger. Would 30-YO me be interested in what I’m writing now? I’d like to think so, but maybe not.

But I really am curious why people are here — is it mostly theoretical, the idea that you are on a protocol, not a platform, that it’s freedom tech? Or is there something specific you get out of it?

I'm here for the based AF Chris Liss rants and great perspectives on all sorts of random life topics. I read some allegory [I think?] you wrote in a long form nostr contest, maybe something to do with aliens / economics a couple years ago. I voted for it with maybe a couple thousand sats, followed you and thought, man how fucking cool is this?! Then maybe year later I discovered your podcast on fountain, probably because of the nostr connection. I was a total fucking sheep 5 years ago, nostr has played a significant role in killing that obedient slave, my worldview could not be more different today than it was then. Fuck you money and freedom tech for the W

'bout this one tho....? 🧔

Been wondering why that 2-year high fee market fizzled out. Have no clue what's going on in shitcoin land but would not be surprised by a spike for the infinity block
