It just occurred to me, due to a nostr bug, that it might actually be pretty cool to have social media hide *who authored* the posts on your TL to force a kind of double-blind perspective. You'd know the post or reply is (or probably is) from one of the people you follow, but you wouldn't be so quick to agree (and perhaps might even be more willing to disagree) if you aren't just smashing the heart button as a reflex because you like the guy. It might make discussions more communal and disagreements less personal if you knew that you're still talking to someone you generally like and respect, but you don't know whether it's "that one guy on the internet" or, like, your actual Mom.

(Nostr, due to ramshackle Tor support, often displays notes from people without correctly fetching their profiles for me, so I find myself liking or replying or following people without having any idea as to their nym or avatar)

ever use Zelle?

They have no customer service.

Which means:

- no recourse for any wrongdoing.

- No way to report criminal activity.

- no way to request limit changes.

And yet, it’s entirely kyc’d.

Banks on both sides of the transaction can freeze the money.

The worst of all worlds.

I recently paid a contractor via Zelle and they froze funds on his side. (We use the same bank btw.)

My money is gone - no recourse for either of us.

When I call the bank - they immediately tell me that Zelle is a third party that they have no control over.

I have also been scammed thru Zelle in a weird furniture fiasco.

You can enter your info and amount lost. To which they respond - there is nothing they can do.

Heres the thing, Zelle is owned by the seven biggest banks in America.

It’s just a scapegoat buffer between banks to absolve them of liability and responsibility.

Stop using it where ever you can.

I am pissed at #coinbase because I have a small amount in an account. I solely had an account to explore how Coinbase worked. It’s terrible. I want to close my account and never use it again. I can’t close my account with any funds left in the account. I can’t transfer nor withdraw my BTC because it’s not a large enough amount. The last thing I want to do is put more funds on Coinbase. 🤬. #FuckCoinbase

Generally agreed. I said most but it's not half so that's my miscommunication. Second, I don't have the money to purchase a cold storage wallet yet. Saving up for that one. I'm in Canada so effectively 60% of our income is taxed if you factor all of the taxes people pay here. Most of my fiat goes to daily living so stacking sats is peacemeal at most.

It's the first wallet I set up for Nostr but I only keep a small amount in it now for zaps. Most of my BTC is in Zeus (the version woth the node built in to the app) now. Will update if better options become available.
