A good way to help prevent these type of losses is to have a couple guard geese around. They will protect the flock while they are free-ranging. Also having a Black Australorps I have noticed can be beneficial for security too. Birds of prey tend to not go after them as much and the Black Australorps seem to always be on high alert to notify the flock of any dangers they sense too.
Also when they are free ranging having a mobile chicken coop, or at least a place where they can all run into and hide from areal predators can be lifesavers for the flock as well.
Sincerely sorry for your loss. I have been there many times with hawks, eagles, and especially bears myself. Lost almost my whole flock a year and half ago to mutiple bear attacks. Have to start over from scratch in the spring.

I try my best to avoid the Normie world as much as possible. I stay my happy ass in the mountain wilderness. I've been able to get by for a couple years just fine without a bank account. Even though it can be a big pain in the ass at times. It is possible to live without one.
Surprisingly crypto exchanges have become the closest thing to a bank account that I have. I do not even keep any money in it except for what I need to use at the time via a debit card by converting Bitcoin into USDC to load it up. Makes me feel sick to my stomach, but thankfully I haven't had to do that in awhile either lol.

I do find myself longing for the beaches and the southern food. Moving away from your home state will always leave a hole in your heart. I do not miss the craziness, or incompetence of the general population. As well as the crime and danger of living where I did in the south either.
Overall the pros outweigh the cons of moving up north for me. I live in a mountain wilderness on a nice homestead in a small town where the community is safe and people are nice.
Idaho is really the only fantasy location I would consider moving to, because I could have a larger piece of property and a ranch for more affordable prices. Other than that I am totally happy where I live.
