Also somehow making it so that you can only vote once would be nice, or maybe of you do vote more than once your extra votes don't show in the final tally, effectively wasting the extra votes.

Setting a single zap amount makes sense otherwise the poll isn't acting like a poll at all.

If the person wants to give more sats to the poll author then they can easily zap the containing note.

Which is why this book must be read more than once and why it is one of my favorites.

This might qualify because the podcast episode was primarily about nostr, but I generally agree that grownostr should be for non Bitcoin related things
