I'm a rebel, baby. I'm revolting. ------------------------------- I'm #British and #Nigerian. I work in IT, but would much rather be hanging out with my kids. I listen to far too many #podcasts so I know a little about a lot, and a lot about very little.

If ever you wanted to know how much capitalism warps our humanity, consider this: Around 800,000 people in the UK are so sick that they cannot work. And instead of being described as a health crisis, it's being called an economic crisis.

Apple CEO, Tim Cook has tweeted: There's something in the air.

I know he thinks this is a cute tease that'll make us excited about some new Apple product, but it makes me think that he's confessing that he's just farted.

He who smelt it, dealt it, Timmy boy.

Random Nigerian fact for you:

During the civil war, Nigeria used starvation as a weapon of war. Over a million Biafrans died, mostly kids.

Eventually, the rest of the world came through with food donations. Norway, for instance, sent a dried cod product that they barely ate called stockfish.

That was 55 years ago. Now stockfish is an indispensable part of Nigerian cuisine. We spend tens of millions of dollars each year importing it from Norway.

I guess generosity pays.

We finally have proof that I'm as shallow as my exes have all accused me of being!

I've been playing it yesterday and it seems to over interpret some things and you can see aspects of its training data. Send a photo of anyone in a rundown part of Bristol and it describes them as being into "urban exploration" as "living in a rundown part of a city with alcohol and drug issues" doesn't quite seem to occur to it -though it does get close. And then goes on to suggest products to try and sell them.

I think the real strength will come when it has a number of photos from the same source to analyse. It came up with a pretty good profile of me from one photo (apart from the online arguing thing), but I can't imagine how good it'll be if it analysed my whole photo roll. Which, now that I think of it, is all stored on ... Google photos.

Shit.

I think I'm just amazed that a computer can do it too.

Have you heard of the site They See Your Photos (https://theyseeyourphotos.com/)?

It uses something called Google Vision to analyse photos, extracting marketing information and coming up with predictions.

It's creepy.

I'm more pro-AI than the average guy, but sometimes even I am worried by the things it does.

I loaded a random photo from my phone; here's the analysis.

If you enjoy fictional podcasts that aren't about murdered women, you might want to check out Story. I'm listening to the first season at the moment - The Walk. It's a wonderfully produced story about 5 friends who decide to walk across America, from Washington State to Florida.

The story manages to be genteel and pastoral, while still being pacey and exciting.

It's really good.

Can someone who understands American politics explain something to me, please? I keep hearing that the whole election might hinge on the swing state of Pennsylvania. Isn't Joe Biden from Pennsylvania? I thought the minimum expectation of any big politician worth their salt was that they'd deliver their state. Why can't Biden do that?

The worst thing about being a parent is that the weaknesses that enrage me the most in my kids are the ones that I secretly know they inherited from me.

I'm offended that "roller coaster" is two separate words.
