Started to inoculate some biochar.
Three 5 gal buckets of mixed 50/50 with chicken

Would you be wetting this a lot to get it to soak in? Thats what my intuition says we should do.
I followerd you because of GrowNostr
Yes we have chickens, ducks, a milks cow etc. I find the chickens do a good job on their own usually, but I did get this for helping make better compost and bedding options.
We made this ourself. I will post picture of how we do it next time.
Thanks to @jackspirko for the idea of using the leaf shreader to chop up our biochar. I'm new to biochar. I tied a bulk bag onto the spout to collect all the char. This worked like cutting butter with a hot knife.

I have been thinking about trying to build a greenhouse against our shop. This looks nice and cozy for the chickens in the winter. we live in a cold climate, so it is hard to keep chickens producing through the winters.
That why I joined this week also!
If you are also in hardiness Zone 3, and on the permaculture homestead journey, I would love to follow you. #grownostr #permaculture #coldclimate #homesteading
This picture is from yesterday when we started mixing in biochar into our compost we plan to use in our garden this year. We are hoping that this helps in our alkaline soils. #notill #compost

Hey this is Randy. I'm jest getting onto Nostr and I am looking forward to getting involved. #grownostr I hope to share our progress on out permaculture farm as we go through the years. This is an interesting journey. I hope there is the value to stay around also. #permaculture
