If it ain’t open and decentralized, I’m looking for an alternative that is. Creator of #DigiNode Tools.

I have no problem paying for Twitter in principle, but at very least it should mean there are no ads. Either the user is the customer, or the advertisers are. I'm not paying if I am not the customer.

Also, given that "a lie can travel half way around the world, before the truth puts on its shoes", I am not going to pay for a platform that welcomes the well-organised and well-funded bad actors who are using it to spread conspiracy theories and dis-information.

Who knows? Perhaps it is simply that a particular relay is shutting down and you are concerned about losing access to your message history.

Personally, it is all about having my own backup of my entire Nostr history, on my own private relay. Currently if you didn't post a message to the relay originally there is no way to add it to the backup relay later.

TBH I have only just set it up, so I need to experiment more. The UI it is really fast for me since it is running on a Raspberry Pi on my local network. All my events are also being shared to other relays so when I use @damus on my phone, it shares to the Damus relay, my private relay (over Tailscale) and others. I see no reason that performance should be any faster/slower than any other relay setup overall.

We need a #NOSTR #NIP that enables a client to download our entire event history from one relay, and upload it to another relay. This way if you are concerned that you will be deplatformed, you can easily migrate your chat history to a new relay. Or perhaps you setup a new private relay and want to upload your entire event history to it so you have a backup. Currently, as I understand it, a client cannot relay our past events from one relay to another.

Wow - so I am now running the #[0] client for #nostr on my #[1] server, in addition to the Nostr relay I was already running. Best of all this is all accessible from anywhere using Tailscale VPN. I now have a self-hosted permanent backup of my Nostr chat history. This is the future.

I've been a hardcore user of #Evernote since 2010 but I recently decided to take a look at #Notion and I must say, I am already considering making the switch permanent, simply for the page formatting system alone. I have not even started investigating what is possible with Notion databases yet.

Zero. DigiByte is a mined PoW UTXO blockchain like Bitcoin. It basically IS Bitcoin with its scaling issues solved but on-chain.

100% agree but DigiByte is not a shitcoin. You might want to try learning more about something you clearly don’t understand before posting platitudes.

I’m hoping I have finally got Zaps working on this thing. Can anyone try zapping me please!

Welcome #[0] to #Nostr. #DigiByte community on here grows by one! 😝

#Nostr needs a way to be able to let account owners to allocate a special signing key to third-parties to allow them to post to an account on behalf of the owner. It also needs an easy way for us to revoke this permission at a later date.

This would allow multiple users to manage brand accounts. It would also allow online services to “tweet” to our accounts on our behalf us, (eg Goodreeads posting whenever you finish reading a book.)

#[0] Bug: if you update your profile pic or banner URL and accidentally include a space at the end, the URL is not recognised. You need to manually remove it.

Despite having been in the space for years, it seems like Armstrong has just never got it. He’s spent years busily centralizing what should be decentralized.

*by multiple user accounts, I mean multiple private keys for the different identities.

#[0] Is support for multiple user accounts on the horizon?
