The Restrict Act will make #Nostr illegal in a fucking heartbeat.

And it will fall under the 25 years in prison and $250,000 fine territory of the bill for “accessing banned apps.”

Make “Tarred & Feathered” great again.

They can put me in prison, not paying the fine either. Not gonna stop. They can make a martyr outta me.

At first glance, the problem I see is that it says it’s about TikTok but it’s actually about individuals’ actions. A bill about a service provider should be about the service provider. I’m sure there’s a bunch of other concerns but that is my first impression.

There should never be a bill about a specific service either. It’s fucking batshit to think the govt should be the arbiter of which websites we are allowed to go to.

Yeah, seems like a First Amendment violation. Still, what if (thought experiment) a site or nefarious app were proven to be an active, deadly enemy of the nation?

P.S. The tar of Tarred & Feathered was more pine tar than asphalt. Still awful of course but makes more sense when you hear that, for example, Joseph Smith was tarred & 🪶ed one night, and preached the next day.
