This dude is allergic to libraries to a point of insanity. This has some benefits like him forbidding anyone from importing bloated frameworks in for one piece of functionality. On the other hand, he'll spend three weeks writing the worlds shittiest json parser. There is no reason on gods green earth to write your own json parser.

if I can't control the protocol/format/whatever, and it's not simple and unchanging, I ain't writing my own library. fuck having a perpetual maintenance problem because someone else can't leave the standard alone

however I will happily write my own standard if my needs are simple. I do not appreciate unnecessary dependencies :smuggyhitler:

do people still use yaml

I'm a software engineer

ipv6 makes my life worse

almost up to 2 inches of sweater

this will speed up significantly when I'm done with the ribbing. just eyeballing it, probably gonna do 3 inches of rib around the bottom. that seems like the right proportion

say what you want about the first gen transistor age computer engineers, they weren't spergs and did a good job designing and naming things so they made sense

the ones who came later, though

so instead of just fixing the way devices are enumerated so it is predictable, they cursed us with unintelligible names
