One thing I wish I knew more about before getting into bitcoin and going more public: privacy, opsec, anonymity, etc

My name and face are out there, and my affiliation to nostr:npub1fpcd25q2zg09rp65fglxuhp0acws5qlphpg88un7mdcskygdvgyqfv4sld, various writings, and more.

I’m not saying it’s outright a bad thing, or that I regret it. For many, me using my name and face makes bitcoin more of a real and normal thing for them potentially. But sometimes I do wonder what nostr:npub1fpcd25q2zg09rp65fglxuhp0acws5qlphpg88un7mdcskygdvgyqfv4sld or my involvement in bitcoin would be like if I were totally anonymous. Would I be doing more? More or less impactful? 🤔

Ah, well. Better late than never learning about some of these things.

Don’t you think the fact that you are a public person forces you to improve your opsec, security and privacy practices?

I think it’s good that there are lots of clever public persons in the space ✌️

Great stuff, support it! nostr:note1cylevnttlzge8txxstrvnhpzdxrhlxpczjc2fa59qkqt7wjhvk9qzctpav

Today I was not allowed to process a payment online for some concert tickets with Swedbank Pay until I changed contact details from my nostr:npub1mea2vwcu06qf7e4x00wd902vj54qnn2jacq76ldntrgfhtvhlpqqrvqane email to a work email. I tried several Proton aliases without luck. Bizarre.

The way I understand John Mearsheimer's "offensive realism" it doesn't seem compatible with Mustafa Suleyman's views on how the coming wave of AI can be kept benevolent through liberal means and democratic cooperation.

That's a bit scary to be honest.

Every second morning, nostr:npub15vdp04nh35a2c0edqmzjp99pnuzkehrh2lylgh3kxw0gkd8gs4hqas2zwv gets up, turns on #Bitcoin for Breakfast, and zaps me 1000+ sats, which is exactly what it costs to run the broadcast for one show.

By far our most consistent supporter this autumn, he deserves a big shoutout and a follow from everyone! 🧡

Keep up the good work Erik!

Today I noticed a long-awaited shift in how housing prices are communicated in Norwegian financial media.

When E24 previously wrote about housing prices, they reported the nominal price increase, which gives the impression that homes, which are the most important way Norwegians store value, are rising in price.

In the article below, E24 writes the following:

'Real housing prices have fallen by 9 percent over the last two years.'

'By then (2024), we expect that real housing prices will have fallen by about 15 percent from the peak. Then we are back to the same real housing price level as in the summer of 2016.'

If one disregards the fact that for most of us Norwegians, a house is a leveraged investment, where a fall in value results in a magnified negative effect on equity, and compares the investments 'housing' vs 'bitcoin', then housing is marginally better for the last two years. If you include the effect on equity, then it is advantage for bitcoin the last two years (depending on your leverage).

And since 2016, well, there is no competition.

This coincides with the 35th OPEC meeting in Vienna.

Coincidence? I think not.
