The answer is already right here…
I think there’s a real argument that if we get enough of these out there solo mining via plebs who will never censor, we are modestly helping my mining decentralization. A world where we have 1-2 EH/s+ of these ensures even if all pools censor you could still get a transaction through eventually with a sufficient fee. Maybe a bit of a stretch, but certainly possible.
If you need a beautiful wilderness retreat cannot recommend this place highly enough. Hike and fish till your heart is content

Agree if you don’t trust yourself bitkey or casa 2 of 3 are good options that are hard to fuck up even as a noob
Bullish af. I suspect the opensats grants that indirectly benefit Bitcoin (such as this and Tor) will have way more freedom and human prosperity impact than people expect. nostr:note16cmfwl5aarxx0qlwtjg70sm2kev3krsj89jes738xw6d0d3clqmqt4m8hn
I 100% agree. But even if I take the opposite side and assume they are well intentioned and as well run as they can be, I still think they’ll be in deep shit in the future. Nation state actors are already trying to infiltrate the company and if Bitcoin goes up 10x there will be too much of a honeypot/incentive to get hacked or compromised at some point. If hacking one company could get you $300B+ of Bitcoin someone will figure it out eventually.
Just build nuclear plants. Problem solved. They also last 60-80 years which is insanely awesome and undersold. Wind turbines break constantly and usually breakdown sooner than expected but at absolute best last 10-15 years. You know it’s bad when even The NY Times is forced to admit wins power sucks https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/12/business/energy-environment/offshore-wind-blade-vineyard-wind.html

Not sure which link you refer to, but all mass media explanations I’ve seen are incomplete at best. Here’s an old example:
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/07/business/gas-prices-rising.html
Arguably the biggest two drivers are 1) higher taxes and 2) the west coast has very aggressive regulations that hit in two ways - both not enough refinery capacity is allowed to be built and operated in the first place constraining supply and also making it very costly to refine gas for the west coast as they have different refining requirements versus the rest of the country. So government actions drive most or all of the regional difference in price.
Oil is down to $66 a barrel but most people on the west coast of the US are paying roughly $5 a gallon for gas. My family in the Midwest and southern US pay about $3. Could someone please explain to me again how more government regulation solves problems and the free market is evil?
A Nunchuk collaborative multisig where you use just Tapsigners is an awesome trade off for newer folks who need something easier. You can geographically distribute the Tapsigners and get a high level of security and redundancy while still keeping it very easy to use and it’s all private/no-KYC.

nostr:npub10pensatlcfwktnvjjw2dtem38n6rvw8g6fv73h84cuacxn4c28eqyfn34f is a unpaid 100% passthrough volunteer organization.
The whole team genuinely cares about the mission.
We have extremely very diverse opinions and backgrounds and very limited operational resources for the volume of applications.
No application is decided by a single person. We also have committee of also volunteer peers who also opine and vote. Once the committee votes with soft ACKs. We have a minimum of 5 positive votes by the board for approval policy.
Everyone and their applications are considered! But we are not going to fund everything. After careful volunteer time is used for reviews a vote is made.
There are many orgs with different methods.
No one is entitled to be funded. Pro tip, be graceful. Aside from being extremely unprofessional to shit on OpenSats in public, you are shitting on unpaid ppl who are trying to do their best and are not perfect. We simply don't have the time and resources (and shouldn't waste money) on giving each and everyone a very detailed feedback. we are talking about hundreds of applications and a dozen ppl here.
Criticism is very much always welcomed and encouraged. We need to know what we can do better.
If you truly care about improving, send a fucking EMAIL. Bitching in public only hurts the ppl who are doing the work.
The FOSS funding will continue until freedom improves ✌️

GM! Wind power is dumb
All else equal increased taxes, increased regulations, and increased chances of jail and punitive actions for people and companies in the space will make BTC less valuable to normies. Now likely money printing will more than offset these, but they are legitimate concerns. You can’t opt out of the government saying give me X% of your shit or we are throwing you in jail.
If I was a hardcore gold bug there is literally nothing that could convince me to admit this. That’s hilarious

For anyone interested. I think the pitch/products is correct. Other successful companies related to a FOSS project, and with healthy relationship, just offer support services as a way of feeding back developer time into the FOSS project, WordPress, Canonical, etc. A good example is the nip05 example in the deck, we built a thing using lnbits which gave us a good reason to tlc the nip05 extension, which anyone can now make use of.
Any VC types types here interested, please reach out to ben@lnbits.com 😘

GM! Running your own node has zero impact on whether a new soft fork is successful unless you go the big extra step to load a specific client to reject blocks containing that soft fork. A lot of people here seem to think running their own node will help ossify Bitcoin. This is factually inaccurate because soft forks are by definition backwards compatible. Example: Pre-Segwit nodes don’t reject or crash when a block contains Segwit transactions.

What external harddrive are you using for your nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct node?
Just my personal preference, I prefer to buy products from those companies to support the project
Yeah they did not finish the full plot of the book series. Don’t even want to get close to spoilers because it’s so good, so will just leave at that…
Just sad they won’t finish it. Not spoiling anything but the show ends just before my favorite part of the book series.

Everyone should just let it go grey. 95 times out a 100 looks better. Hair dyes often have toxic chemicals.
GM! Anyone watch the YouTube show Financial Audit by Caleb Hammer? I think most bitcoiners or FIRE folks would love this. Don’t agree with every detail(he hates BTC), but it’s funny and he does a good overall job of giving people the tough love financial reality check they need. Amazing how delusional most people are about their debt and spending. Sad this is the modern norm. I wish we could have politicians on to review the government’s budget. Would be 🔥🔥
