Geek who likes privacy and a decentralized internet. Somewhere in Germany.

Will AI break SHA and AES?

After 2 years of trying to like it, I finaly rooted GrapheneOS. It's a great system, but the limitations were too uncomfy for me after a decade with rooted Androids as my daily driver. I am very happy now. The mixture of a great base system and my personal tinkerings makes it the best phone I ever owned. I understand and appreciate the GOS philosophy, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Lets be realistic. Privacy had a tough decade. But shadow brings light. There will be more and more decentralized services. Geeks will pioneer them, the masses will follow.

Daemon with the most confusing config files?

Postfix, X11 and everything LDAP for me.

I gained a moment of peace on planet Atropos.

Rebuilding a 4TB cryptoRAID on 10 year old hardware.

An adventurous journey. #Linux

IS YOUR DISK ENCRYPTION UP TO DATE?

>>>>>>>

$ cryptsetup luksDump /path/to/device/or/container

LUKS header information

Version: 2

>>>>>>>

- You want to see Version 2 here. V1 is deprecated and less secure.

Check your LUKS containers and partitions.

- V1 can be upgraded to V2 easily most of the time with a single command. Read up on iterations too and check if yours are good enough for your purposes.

- Always have backups when performing dangerous operations on important data.

- Do your homework before starting. It's always good to have a better understanding of current encryption standards. You can learn from people who know what they are doing here:

Your own Free Open Source GPT-style AI on your personal computer. No internet connection required.

- Can use many different LLMs

- You need 16GB RAM for the best one

- No GPU required, optimized for Intel CPU

Works slow but amazingly well for me.

Good thing to know, that AI won't be monopolized.

Everything that is currently happening to other political dissidents. House searches, confiscation of hardware, lawsuits.

Now with new censorship laws in force, #Nostr relays should move to TOR quickly or face repression.

You can install the first package manually from Github. Afterwards you can upgrade with Obtainium trustless. Thats because Android wouldn't upgrade packages when signatures don't match.
