I sell lights @ apogeehouse.com, an architectural lighting, fans, & controls distributor. Fan of financial markets, tech & BBQ. Always learning. Using nostr to share what I have learned. Nothing I say is financial or medical advice. Assume everything I say is wrong. Do your own research.

As you get older, you realize lots of people you thought were experts are just regular people pretending to be something they’re not.

Some got there by faking it until they made it.

Some just have more confidence than others or are more convincing.

Reality is, most people are winging it in life and know just as much, or less, than you do.

Don’t trust, verify.

There are some instructions on how to handle the clearnet hurdle. It’s basically like you said, get a vps and run a few basic commands. It just adds another layer of difficulty which drives merchants away. I think some devs were looking into making it easier to get clearnet going though.

Even custodial lightning is challenging as a merchant lol.

I’ve seen their page before and it seems like a good service. They seem to be a convenient way to accept payment via 3rd party api’s via a web plugin, meaning they don’t touch any money and just facilitate the connection. The tax/sales reports and accounting seems nice. I definitely see value in a product like this.

However, I would personally like to avoid middle-men if possible. To me the beauty of accepting BTC as payment is to avoid the traditional rails (banks/merchant processing/etc). I would like to stay as true to that vision as possible but it may not be so easy for lots of people at the moment. Setting up and maintaining a btcpayserver (especially with lightning) is quite the task for a normie.

Some wise words I heard once:

“Don’t get stuck.”

Meaning, if you’re solving a problem, it’s easy to get stuck in the details and forget the big picture.

It’s better to get something up and running than delay due to perfection.

Don’t get stuck.

Good morning!

Be positive and productive today. Push yourself.

True, although your body is rarely stable in weight. If you’ve lost 25lbs over a year, you have to make up for it with more reps. Free weights are definitely the gold standard if trying to increase strength via a protocol for the reasons Lopp mentioned.

Good morning #nostr!

Have a great day.

Made healthy ice cream tonight.

Anyone have any issues updating an email address with @strike?

No way to update myself, have to contact support within the app.

Received a reply today asking for:

- Phone number

- Previous transaction details

- Bank info

- Reason why I’m changing email address

- New email address

These I’m fine with, but they also ask one last item which I’m uncomfortable with:

- Photo of myself, holding an ID, and a hand-written note with my request. (Aka the hostage photo)

I hesitate to send the photo because of data breaches and leaks (for example Twilio data breach less than a week ago). I would prefer to not have even more of my info out there, especially to just update an email address.

I’ve updated email addresses with banks, brokers, and other exchanges in the last week and haven’t had this requirement come up.

Anyone else experience this? Can you help nostr:npub1cn4t4cd78nm900qc2hhqte5aa8c9njm6qkfzw95tszufwcwtcnsq7g3vle ?

Followed back, your bio had me at “coffee”.

The ones that come with the GMG are decent but not accurate unfortunately.

It is nice that the GMG app alerts you about low pellets, temp alarms, etc but I also like having come to learn how long things take and “letting go” a bit.

The results are pretty much the same for me when I’m technical about it or just freestyle it.

That’s the cool thing about BBQ, it’s not an exact science but more of an art. Too many variables to account for such as size of the cut, quality of the cut, type of wood pellets, outside temp, temp probes, the trimming, seasoning, put it on cold or room temp, adjusting vents, etc.

I think just going with the flow and just accepting the result and enjoying the process is the trick.

Kind of a life lesson in bbq, haha!

Hello #nostriches!

Trying to brainstorm how to get my business to grow on #nostr and #bitcoin.

Anyone have any ideas of ways I can sell/promote on nostr and other related ways? I’m aware Shopify/Woocommerce + btcpay, any other ideas to consider?

I sell lighting fixtures, fans, and controls mainly as we are lighting and electrical distributors but also provide lighting consultation and related services.

Open to any ideas!

Operation brisket finale!

The result after 4 hours of rest was really great. Worth the effort.

Unfortunately, ribs were devoured before photos could be taken. Also came out great.

Credit mostly goes to the pellet grill for handling the work.

Happy 4th and good night!

Operation brisket update: the wrap

Take out around 185° to wrap in butcher paper with a few large gobs of tallow underneath. Fold over twice and place back on smoker (ends up in the same position).

Now wait another hour or two to proceed to phase 3: the rest (AKA holding the line and telling people it’s “done” but not “ready” yet).
