Holy shit lmao I just reloaded that #[3] wrote that PR, dude you’re everywhere 🙌

I get why Tor is good but the experience of using it with LN really makes me want say 'fuck it' and enable clearnet and dox my home IP.
Hey Nostriches, seeking wisdom from the masses. I'd like to set up a paid relay but don't know where to start.
This guide is great but it has me signing up for a Zebedee account which requires doxxing: https://andreneves.xyz/p/how-to-setup-a-paid-nostr-relay
Any good resources out there for how to achieve this without having to doxx myself?
CC #[1] -- I would zap handily for a guide on setting up a paid relay that incorporates PR 194 as an alternative to Zebedee: https://github.com/Cameri/nostream/pull/194

For real, umbrel orange-pilled me on basically everything: LN, running a node, and eventually self-hosting many google-alternative services. Then I went nuts and built this crazy home server with like 24TB in a zfs pool and 10 VMs and counting. It’s mad. Cheers umbrel.
They gotta be on top of it otherwise ppl would start calling them Spamethyst 😂
😬
I’ll show myself out 👉
Word. iCloud backup for keys would be a great first step. Zaps could be more accessible to the general public if it were easier to acquire Lightning sats.
Thought: ppl can send sats to a fund that serves as a faucet for new users to get started. That system is probably ripe for abuse and I don’t know how to prevent that with LN, but it would get users used to V4V.
Done, but the ‘zap’ button on each post is only a feature in the TestFlight version for now. When you zap from the post it just hits different.
*cries in App Store version while TestFlight beta is closed*
You can run Nostrid in your local device and configure it to use a proxy (it can be Tor or any other): https://github.com/lapulpeta/Nostrid/blob/master/Doc/HowToSetupProxy.md
Just learning about Nostrid, looks cool. Any plans for a Linux client?
I’m following 69 people, nice
Quick: everybody stop making dope content so I don’t need to follow more people and upset this beautiful equilibrium
Real talk: is it *really* that bad to run a LN node at home over clearnet instead of Tor? Why or why not?
For maybe a few weeks I thought I'd try and build a routing node, but that did not last very long. Better to leave that to the pros imo. Just create a few liquidity swaps on #[2] and a fat channel to a vendor you pay a lot, and be done with it.
Alright follow-up Q then... what say I set up some subdomain, i.e. lnlink.domain.tld, then I point that at my VPS, tunnel it through to a server on my home network that runs nginx proxy manager & terminates SSL. My node would be running in tor mode only; not clearnet.
Then let's say I create a proxy host in nginx that routes stuff from that subdomain to [nodeIP]:9735, with web sockets support enabled.
Would LNLink work properly with a URI like e.g. [nodeID]@lnlink.domain.tld ?
If it looks like that'll work then it's by far the easiest way for me to use my home node remotely, leveraging my existing VPS and tunnel setup. Asking these Qs now before I dive in to the project of setting up c-lightning on a VM!
#[0] Question about the LNLink app.
I see it constructs the link using a URI that consists of "nodeid@hostname and optional port"
Does this require my node to be running on clearnet or hybrid mode, or can it be behind Tor?
I'm trying to send payments from my node without needing to expose it over clearnet and without needing to set up e.g. a VPN tunnel from a VPS.
LNLink seems like a perfect solution but idk what expected behavior is if I'm trying to use it on my phone while away from my home.
Any other NFT PFPs up in this?
