Web2 product guy since 2011. Bitcoin holder since 2017. Node runner since 2020. Recovering NFT degenerate since 2022. Relayer since 2023.

I’m only using it on a single node to manage 10 hosts (mostly LXCs and a few VMs) and it makes it really simple. I can imagine the benefit scales really nicely over multiple nodes.

Can you help me understand why? Not a STX bag holder so I’m genuinely curious; it seems like a L2 on Bitcoin could do more good than harm to the ecosystem. Keep NFTs and all that other stuff on the L2 and let the base layer focus on fundamentals in digital/financial self sovereignty.

Also the existence of NFTs on STX seems to make this whole ordinals thing redundant.

💯

While we’re at it, can we drop the word “leverage” as a verb? The word you’re looking for is “use.” You’re not impressing anybody.

lmao I just started #selfhosting like two months ago, mainly for fun and to experiment with #degoogling myself. But since joining #nostr there’s been inspiration everywhere and I’ve really poured gas on the fire.

Look at what you lunatics made me do just in the past week:

* Raspibolt set up on a Ubuntu VM

* Bitcoind synced and relaying blocks

* Core Lightning and LND installed and configured, CL REST enabled

* RTL set up for CLN

* Channels open with my other node on #[3] to get some liq going

* LNBits sitting at the end of a WireGuard tunnel under a memorable domain

Next up:

* Commando for remote node control over Lightning Network

* Paid Nostr relay using LNBits as the payment processor

I feel like I need to start a blog or something

Personally, I’m waiting for Web7

Agreed about circles, but the only issue is that you need to build each circle yourself which takes time.

I wonder if the global feed could do something different to help you discover new content. Perhaps the ability to toggle what content you see in that tab by 2nd, 3rd, 4th degree connections would yield something interesting.

Would expect nothing less from you legends. Gonna keep my eye out for that release on TestFlight 🤙 ?cid=2154d3d7jon2nsu9inr03s2vmihultie0se8otag6gwjor9x&rid=giphy.gif&ct=g

What wallets/node managers support Core Lightning Commando?

✅ lnlink

✅ Alby

…what else? I’d kill for support in #[0] 👀

Literally wouldn’t be possible without some of your contributions so yeah same to you ser 🤝

Is snort.social down for anybody else?

I think the most constructive retort here would simply be to question why it's necessary to use whatever novel token exists for whatever use case, when Bitcoin exists and supports all of those use cases and is backed by the most proof of work, with ongoing contributions from the most active, veteran developers both to the core protocol, L2s, and the surrounding ecosystem.

I'm reminded of the altcoin boom of late 2017:

That's awesome, thanks for this. Just one follow-up Q -- let's say one wanted to use the below image on Docker Hub to make a dumb-simple one-click deploy via Portainer Stacks. Is this really just as easy as passing the LNBits API key and secret along in environment variables?

Similar here. I’m working on setting up a LN node that’s going to pipe through WireGuard out to a VPS on Linode. Following this guide but going to try to make it work with C-Lightning instead of LND (working on both simultaneously because I’m a masochist): https://github.com/TrezorHannes/vps-lnbits-wg
