Nostr is awesome because it makes censorship resistant text and notes very accessible. Consorship resistent media is a VERY dangerous thing to associate with these text notes. Being able to just switch to a relay in a different jurisdiction is great for avoiding censorship... until hosting things that are illegal in EVERY clearnet jourisdiction comes a core part of the protocol.
The fact that Nostr primarily concerns itself with regular text is an intentional decision from its developers in order to enhance its censorship resistence. Do not think that Nostr can resist every censorship law. It can only resist ones that aren't ubiquitous on the clearnet.
Yes. Funnyjunk.com . All the users think it's a pretty good place for free speech, but my experiences have been much more... sketchy. Strange "bugs" preventing me from posting across 3 accounts in a row, very shortly after getting a lot of mod attention, without any ban messages. The same thing happened at the same time to someone I was associating with. Nobody there has any idea people are being censored like me, and I noticed a few other more... controverisal users disappearing at around the same time as me.
The user experience is great. I just wish Admin was more transparent. Tell the users what is and isn't allowed instead of secretly shadowbanning them without warning or explanation or indication to anyone else.
You are right that I don't choose my values, but at least I can still do my utmost to force my values upon reality and everyone else. The only flow I will go with is my own.
