That would work but my issue with that is that every other messaging app I have is synchronized between phone and mobile. I like the portability of having it on my phone, but I always prefer to type everything out on my desktop, as I absolutely hate phone keyboards. Plus, it's not exactly viable to pack up your desktop and go somewhere in the event of a disaster or something else that causes you to flee where you have your PC set up.

If you're going to abstain from voting, you're only helping Kamala win and we all know she DEFINITELY will destroy the country.

I have a laptop running Linux Mint right now, and another laptop that I plan to switch to Linux at some point as well. Originally, I planned to put ZorinOS on it but I'm starting to think I should put Manjaro on it, just so I can get used to using Arch-based distros also. 🤔

#Linux #LinuxMint #ZorinOS #Manjaro #ArchLinux

Yeah, because that accomplishes so much... Like it or not, this is the political hand we're dealt and I'm not comfortable destroying the country just because I don't like either candidate.

I can respect that position because I do think that 99% of politics is just theater. However, I don't think that we inherently automatically lose just because of one candidate. In terms of the U.S. election, we definitely will lose if Kamala gets it. Whereas, if Trump gets it, we have a chance to at least have a slightly better economy, stronger military, more secure borders, and we won't have the federal government pushing DEI values down our throats every five seconds.

The irony is that by seeing the two-party system split into harsher extremes, we get a candidate that aligns a lot more with libertarian values despite not being libertarian... And that candidate certainly ain't the cackling, drunken communist.

Considering the lengths that Satoshi went to to keep himself anonymous, I don't think some random HBO documentary is going to be able to reveal his identity without him wanting to be revealed, and I sincerely doubt he would ever reveal himself through some mainstream media documentary. Considering the timing, it was a very high likelihood that the producers of this are trying to create an October surprise.

You're not speaking to me in this particular comment, but I figured I'd chime in anyways. There are definitely plenty of reasons to vote for him. Freeing Ross is a good idea, but ultimately it doesn't impact us as individuals, whereas the other policies that Trump is promoting very heavily can impact us. It really does just come down to, do you want more of the last four years of absolute clownery or do you want us to at least try to return to the state of the economy military border and governmental values that we had starting in 2016?

The choice is pretty clear. We can't survive another four years of what we just went through. On top of that, Kamalo will be 10 times worse as an individual, considering the fact that she's a hardcore communist. If you choose not to vote for Trump, then you're effectively giving more room to Kamala. I know that the lesser of two evils mentality absolutely sucks, but it's the truth, unfortunately. Kamala stands very contrary to the values of Bitcoin and of freedom. That alone should be enough reason to not vote for her and to vote for Trump instead.

Again, at the end of the day, freeing Ross is a great idea, but it's not the issue that should make or break a candidate for anybody.

I don't disagree entirely, but the decision is clear. You either get a really crappy economy, along with open borders, weak military, and DEI policies...

Or we get some form of economic prosperity, secure borders, strong military, and more traditional American and family values.

Personally, I wanted Vivek Ramaswamy, but I'd rather Trump over Kamala. That's for sure. Anyone who chooses to abstain from voting is responsible for giving it to Kamala. I understand that the "lesser of two evils" mentality is not ideal. I chose not to vote in 2016 for that very reason. However, it's the truth, as unfortunate as it may be. Thankfully, we dodged a bullet with Hillary. I never would have been able to have lived that down if she made it, nor would I have been able to have forgiven myself for the damage that would have caused.

I agree that it is a good reason to vote, but how is it the only real reason to do so? I mean, we have a totally incompetent and malignant regime in power right now, and we had a better situation overall before, back when he was in power.

FreeTube is fantastic. I use it on a daily basis and that's the only way I really use YouTube at this point. I understand why people like Invidious, but FreeTube can route through randomized Invidious instances whenever it's fixed, and even when it's broken, FreeTube has its own API as you mentioned. At this point, I just use FreeTube on desktop and Grayjay on mobile. Since I started using that setup, I haven't had too many issues with YouTube blocking me.

As Enki said, it's just an app and a desktop program. But the problem is that the desktop version doesn't link very well to the mobile version. It's kind of annoying because unlike Session which synchronizes everything by default, you have to actually purposefully link your phone version to your desktop version to use it. I'm sure there's some security argument to be made there, but Session is still a pretty secure messenger and it doesn't require such a process.

It's one of quite a few reasons why I don't really use SimpleX all that much, the others being things like REALLY slow speeds, annoying message catch up (thus annoying notifications) if you're away longer than a day, and the lack of onion routing.

It's an option but that I also see Monero as an option for transactions at least. I don't see why we can't hold our wealth in Bitcoin by default and then switch to Monero if we're going to be making a lot of transactions. That's why I can't really get behind the "no second best" mentality. I like Bitcoin because I see its benefits and thus I support it, but I also think that there are benefits to a few altcoins like Monero for privacy.

Yes, because the legendary cypherpunk who created the most popular fiat alternative is definitely going to reveal himself on an HBO documentary. 🤣

Sucks to see, but hopefully this will convince people that the current policies are absolutely moronic. I'm not holding my breath, but it'd be great if people did wake up to what's going on here because this sort of crap will continue to repeat in different ways until people do wake up.

Oh yeah, it could be way worse, but I still prefer the old look to the new one. I guess part of what bugs me is that it blends too much with the color/theme that I have on Windows 10, making it harder to see when I pop open the start menu.

That's my philosophy on altcoins. I don't hate them. Some of them have their purpose, and if you like trading them because you want a high-risk/high-reward trading setup, go for it. I just think it's ideal to store the bulk of your wealth and make all your non-trading transactions with BTC or XMR.

I'm absolutely not keen on the new icon for VirtualBox. I get that the old icon was a bit dated (though its end-of-life Frutiger Aero look was appealing to me), but the new one is a pain to look at.

Hey, I'm not at all siding with the megacorps. I think it's absurd how all of our infrastructure is reliant on government-backed (or government-friendly) megacorps sourcing from other countries. I just don't think that this strike is even remotely justified.

Agreed on the class action, though.
