They say they want the USD because it is hyperinflating less quickly than their local currency but overtime it will eventually hyperinflate (long term), so I think it is still better to explain and advocate for bitcoin for long term savings while saying you understand if they want dollars for short term spending you understand just explain they can get rug pulled with USD by inflation or confiscation (If they are digital dollars)

Got another big storm coming through and needed to get a sump pump installed under the house, but was feeling a lot of resistance to doing it. I was complaining to my 9 y/o son who proceeded to tell me,

“We’ll, you made me do my homework and I didn’t want to do it, but when I was done I was happy it was out of the way, so I’m gonna make you do that so you’ll be happy tomorrow when it’s raining hard and it won’t be flooding under the house.”

So he held the light for me while I crawled around under the house and got it all situated, and helped me run the hose out so that now we should be all square.

It was just a really nice moment with my son that I never shared anything like that with my dad, so it just felt really nice to know that my family can really be a mode of support and motivation for me that I never really got to experience as a child. Having a family is a nice way to get to rewrite those kinds of experiences for ourselves in meaningful and wholesome ways like that.

This is an incredible story Erik!

I was fortunate to have great relationship with my father and have countless stories like this growing up, but hope I can have stories like this with my kids if I am lucky enough to have them one day.

haha 😂 so good. I'm shocked at how many bitcoiners gave up on Nostr like II was Gettr or Mastodon. It is way better than both those platforms and it is not even close

I posed the following question on X:

“If you are a Bitcoiner and you’re still not on #Nostr, what are you waiting for??

It’s a free & open protocol for speech, like #Bitcoin  is a free & open protocol for money.

You need *both* to free yourself.”

The responses I got are indicative of how early we are, and also how the *first* experience someone has with #Nostr is so important. You can see that a lot of folks tried it and got frustrated (likely a year or so ago) and haven’t come back since. Their initial impression is still cemented in their mind, and they have no idea how much the ecosystem has improved in the last year.

The first touchpoint someone has is incredibly important, because like it or not, people DO just books by their covers.

Just some food for thought.
