I have, 3 times now.

Its especially strange, because I already had a working Zeus install before I tried this 🫠

Well, I just tried a fresh install, to give you more detailed opinions about the "quick start" mode, but I have been unable to get it to setup. Been waiting for hours, and it still just hangs on the first screen saying "ZEUS is starting your node". I tried deleting the app and trying again, but same result.... hours of waiting (and keeping the phone active) with no success 🤷

But, in response to your question, I can at least comment on the UI from the screen below... IMO, most of this should go away. Theres power tools and features that I personally love here, but it overwhelms the normies. I'm thinking a UI that looks like Venmo/CashApp or something. The user only sees basic send/receive choices, address book, and basically nothing else.

I'm having a "we made you peach cobbler to celebrate the last day of summer, but since you refuse to clean your room, I'm not going to wait any longer to eat mine" sort of day

Yes, and that's what I currently recommend, but the design (with all the advanced menus) is daunting for "normies". It would go a long way to have a "simple app" that doesn't have any of those options and only offers the default mode.

Just an idea. I realize Zeus is not necessarily for "normies", but damn I'm tired of sending people to WoS and Alby

I'm thibking embedded LND + LSP w/ wrapped invoices. Ideally zero advanced settings available.

What is the preferred way to on-board someone to self-custodial lightning these days? nostr:nprofile1qqsrf5h4ya83jk8u6t9jgc76h6kalz3plp9vusjpm2ygqgalqhxgp9gpr4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmp0qyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnddaehgu3wwp6kytcpr9mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctv9uv45qez is epic, but my mom is going to have a stroke if I ask her to set it up.

Ribeye is the path to knowledge and wisdom

I love this space, but damn a few of the devs are clueless. Here's another comically bad take from nostr:nprofile1qqsr9cvzwc652r4m83d86ykplrnm9dg5gwdvzzn8ameanlvut35wy3gpz3mhxw309aex2mrp0yhx5c34x5hxxmmd9uqsuamnwvaz7tmwdaejumr0dshszythwden5te0dehhxarj9ekxzmny9u0ljp2l. This is right up there with that time he said he preferred centralized storage because censorship was a good thing (followed by a rant about how "decentralization enables pedophiles")

How is the user supposed to tell Damus to have network for some things but not for that secure sub process? He cant. The entire point of a second app like Amber, is to give the user the ability to deny network permissions instead of having to trust the developer to have done it correctly.

You think you'll never make a mistake. You may be right, but I'd still rather not have to trust you.

And don't forget Sig P320s

Let's not normalize use of the term 'sideloading' to refer to the simple act of installing whatever software you want from wherever you want on a device that you own.

Instead, I propose the term 'soyloading' to refer to the practice of only installing google/apple approved software, only from their untrustworthy stores, on a device you choose not to own.

The thing about cypherpunk is, you have to be active. If you sit back on your heels and say "yeah we already built the best thing, I'm not paying attention to you", then you're effectively stepping off the battlefield and letting others fight on without you.

Bitcoiner attitude tends this way, and caused us to lose our punk.

Bitcoiners don't let ourselves be sideliners. Speak truth to evil. Vote with your wallet. Build shit that maximizes freedom and boycott things that dont. Stop tolerating KYC, CEXs, etc just because it helps NGU. Be opinionated and act with conviction.

CNN says we should be worried that Trump is threatening the independence of the Federal Reserve.... What?! What kind of statist cope is that?! We are supposed to like that an unelected body of central bankers controls the monetary policy of the USA?!? Literally nobody should like the Fed, regardless what color you vote for.

Yeah, but solar thermal does that with arrays of mirrors as big as a solar farm that have to be actively focused to concentrate the heat.

They even mention that their energy density per land area is lower than other forms of actively capturing solar energy, but that the extremely reduced cost of install and maintenance for a static farm (fixed panels at low angles for reduced wind shear) are what make it possible for the long term economics of this project to compete with natgas

Now.... I wonder if there is a similar passive way of capturing solar thermal on a comparable land area that can reach 800C or whatever

1 sat per message feels like a nice threshold too. Or perhaps 1 sat per hop, to align cost aith actual resource (bandwidth) usage.

I heard a rumor that nostr:nprofile1qqs9g69ua6m5ec6ukstnmnyewj7a4j0gjjn5hu75f7w23d64gczunmgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0wd68ytnsw43q4gnztg is working with an OEM to deliver a non-google device. Please tell me this rumor is true! As long as the camera is decent, I'm all in... can't lose the camera though, at least while I have young kids
