I'm just going to start making threads all the time now.
"Publish the future you want to see!" π§΅
The Good News:
- You can combine both by translating the thumbs into numbers. (Steam already does this succesfully for games)
- Humans suck at translating preferences into numbers and you avoid all that, replacing it with a coherent dose of math.
The information you want from a total score, on the other hand, is quantitative. It's:
"How does this compare to other similar things?"
The information you want from an individual review isn't quantitative. It's basically:
"Would this person recommend this place + what did he like/dislike about it?"
Humans tend to think in "Good" vs "Bad". When it comes to reviews that means "Recommend" vs "Don't Recommend". Add some more specific aspects to judge as good or bad and you've got yourself a pretty complete review.

Which of these gives the most information?
- Both reviews systems take about the same time to complete.
- Both can be used to calculate a Total Score.
𧡠A thread on why I'm betting on thumbs:
This relatable ππ
I've yet to meet someone that even knows about eNuts that is not a self-custodian satstacker.
Which might be soon to be honest, ecash space moves fast.
Yep but mostly Bitternut (Carya cordiformis). Which is a beautiful tree and ideal for oil since the bitterness is taken out by the very act of pressing it. But less ideal for livestock, pigs do not press it (and I prefer them on chestnuts). Great for all the other wildlife tho π .
You beast πͺ πΈ
And you wrote Blossom in Svelte π
It's been quite the journey from breeding nuts for their seed oils (yes, I thought this was a genius plan 3 years ago π€¦ββοΈ) to stacking eNuts on my phone π₯

We men do well with a cigare room.
SEC is kinda like that.
A family, some shitcompost, ...
What else does a man need? π

It is too complicated to manage one's own noncustodial facility for users arriving on Nostr.
Getalby however has now made things very complicated with the invitation code requirement.
The easiest zap management is to use Primal, with all the KYC and custodial wallet issues we know.
Neither is it easy to manage zaps with npub.cash or Minibits.
Of course, I am always talking about inexperienced users signing up for Nostr.
It's all extremely problematic and until I had nostr:npub14w5fpxvrhux6c9ecp82p5w3hxm46rh9tzktlr0e72sg8k9q57xwshqhg7u sign up I wasn't even thinking about it.
Ecash zaps are sooooo needed.
And they only solve half if the problem, for now. Still need to acquire them somehow starting from zero Bitcoin.
π TIL you can pin notes in nostr:npub1wyuh3scfgzqmxn709a2fzuemps389rxnk7nfgege6s847zze3tuqfl87ez
You could only let users publish their review once they answered a certain number of questions (let's say 5) but let them answer as many as they want from there. Then you do basically QTS:
5/10 + ((# thumbs up on questions / total answered questions) x 5)
Not perfect, I'm still doing math on other options.
Check out Spring browser (https://spring.site/).
Let's you use any Nostr web app on mobile, I prefer Nostrudel.
