lmao I keep missing notis on this. Right now it's a self hosted podcast player, mainly for downloading + converting podcasts into opus files. It's now featuring a javascript media player I'm trying to design as "from the ground up" as possible. Basically I love podgrab, but I wanted to see what it was like to make my own version. Also I wanted to add a lot of features that I have no idea are going to be added into podgrab.

I feel like phone podcast apps are so extra and don't solve the cross-platform playback position problem. There is gpodder sync which tries to solve this, but in terms of the self hosted sphere, the options are extremely small to nonexistent. I don't see why using a web page all devices can access is NOT the answer here.

IDK if anyone watches BBC 3 (I'm american idk your tv stations) but they are apparently airing a documentary about the people who consume and create monkey abuse content. This is a very far reaching international business that I wish was actually exposed or talked about more in general. It reaches far and wide across generations as well, your grandma could be watching monkeys getting abused for all you know. Mine could too.

I know this is a couple weeks old, but this is a prime example of why the nix package manager is so based. Oh, your distro doesn't support X program? It's probably one of the 80k programs packaged for nix. If it's not packaged, well, how hard it'll be to package depends on the application. I certainly have done some janky shit to package some programs for myself, "fuck it just use steam run to make it work" being my personal favorite.

Just a simple podcast downloader and player. Trying to learn how to actually develop an app, definitely harder than I imagined lol. I've already learned a lot though !
Almost to 100 commits on my personal podcast project. Let's fuckin goo.

I was listening to a podcast and the topic of https://namecheap.com came up. Specifically, if "Name Cheap" was a good one. One host said "Why would I ever want to buy something from a company named Name Cheap? What kind of trust should I put into someone with a name like that?" with the other host saying "I heard the name and thought sweet, cheap domains!"
So where do you fall on The Name Cheap Question? (The NCQ)
Hoovervilles are making a hell of a comeback.
Newsomevilles doesn't have the same ring to it, though.
In the Bridge trilogy by Gibson, the golden gate bridge ends up becoming a massive favela city complete with it's own shops, restaurants, and plumbing. I didn't expect to see the beginnings of something like that in my lifetime though.
I remember saying last month where are the favelas in America? Let's fucking GO

Wow genuinely happy to see Super Mario RPG getting an HD remake. That's such a fun relaxing rpg. Also cool to see where paper mario had some of it's roots. I miss being a kid again bros.
