Are you planning to read something specific in Sanskrit? Like the Ramayana? Or the Bhagavad Gita?
I think it has to do with human nature. Certainly with stories anyway. You have to have conflict or there is no story. So if everyone's basic needs are provided for, its not a source of conflict.
I like Star Trek too. But there is a lot of hand waving on post scarcity. When you need a story, scarcity usually creeps back in.
