Suggestion: auto-detect the country of the user with Geo-IP, instead of making them choose at the splash screen. Keep the option to select a different country, for the edge-cases that are using VPN, etc.

I agree. The fiat system is exploitative in nature. It is structured to ensure the flow of real resources from fiat-poor, but resource-rich countries to the Cantillon countries; the ones who print the “reserve currencies” at will, and use them to their maximum advantage.
I like to think of it as the native currency of the Internet.
